Lakland Owners Group #69

Just received my new 55-94 yesterday. I have a question about the spacing at the nut. Is this from the factory or a replacement nut. I will be replacing it asap.

On that same line was the original AC DJ (the natural finish DJ) supposed to be a LOG bass? For some reason I feel like that started as a special run of some sort and then became kind of a more regular option. I still want one of those at some point.
Great memory
Yes

That was supposed to be the LOG bass but we didn't get 30 orders ( minimum at the time)

Interestingly enough they sold over 100 of them over time.

I was offered to purchase serial number one by Lakland but had already gone pretty much 5 string by the time .... So I turned it down....

Seems fine to me. Spacing is measured between string centers.
yes - but I cannot remember his name (argh!)
That would be Randy.

A little live Skyline 55-60 action. “Old Glory” was sounding pretty beefy through the PA. We’re usually a 5-6 piece band but had to trim down to a 4-piece for this show. Sounded pretty tight.

Apologize as the video quality leaves a bit to be desired during the low light segments. Sounds pretty good though.

I was thinking about this just the other day actually. So there were three dudepit special runs right? The first was a Sherwood Green Skyline JO, the second was a white Glaub with darkstar, and the third was a Skyline Decade run that eventually became the stock model. Was there just one LOG bass then? So four forums basses total? Also was that Dudepit Decade made in Korea? I know that all other Skyline Decade's were Indo made AND in fact are the first Indo Skylines but if the Dudepit was around when that started then it had to be Korea right?
My recollection on the Skyline Decade is that orders were taken through Steve Barr of the Dudepit. But something happened with Barr, and after a delay Lakland stepped in and finished the job.

I'm just about certain that that run ended up being the first batch of Indonesian Skylines, I remember visiting the shop and the basses were there along with the not-completely-unpacked PLEK machine.

Amy thoughts on the 44-OS from owners? Not much online about this one

I owned one and I really liked it - the updated Bart Pre and pick ups with pull up passive function worked well - it felt light and fast, mine was well set up on low action - great for modern tones and slap, different sounding than Lakland's LH3 and Hansons. The OS (off set) body shape is comfortable, although I didn't see a big difference, just fit well overall like my over lakies. I got a great deal on mine and it played fantastic.

I believe this is typical nut alignment from Lakland. My 55-94 had similar spacing. My tech swapped it out for a more "even" distribution. Do what feels comfortable to you.

Attached is my new nut (installed) and my old nut held in place. I tried to line up the ends with the edge of the neck to see where the old spacing was.

NBD! Today I fount a really nice JO5 at a pretty peculiar guitarshop in Amsterdam (de plug). A shop that looks more like a guitar thriftshop or guitar hoarders livingroom than anything else. But I was looking for a passive 5 and they had a nice example right there behind some old Eko’s, framus’ and other oddities. Really happy to join the Lakland owners club! 🤩
