Question please. Digging through my misc. parts stuff I dug out what I believe is an older set of Lakland pickups, that I think came from a Skyline DJ5/ JO5 etc. The neck pickup was damaged and unisable, but this bridge pickup cleaned up nicely, measures about 10.8k and has output so it's a candidate for install in something. From the lead color I think that is the Lakland/Hanson wiring? I know the earlier Aero were black and white. Can anyone confirm this as a Hanson?
Also, did the Skyline models and USA models share the same pickups? Or were there different models for both?

They appear to be hanson pickups and the Skyline and USA models have the same pickups for almost all of the models. For sure in the DJ model. Lakland (or another pickup winder) will probably repair the neck pickup as well. Not sure what they would charge
Lakland doesn't do repairs on pickups. But I might have the neck pickup to go with this one. Let me check.

@nervous unfortunately the pickups I have here are a bridge single coil and a neck split coil. Both have no leads, so I don't have a way to test them. I'd gladly send them to you as I have no use for them.
Thank you for the offer but I am really not in any bad situation with what I have. I think just the opposite. The one that is bad is a neck position with a very well worn cover, missing leads and has a broken coil wire so that one has served it's time and will get no more attention. It actually works in my favor though to have a solid, cosmetically good, functioning bridge pickup of Lakland lineage as I am looking ahead to what I would like to install in the BG5 if the time comes. Having this one, that is USA model worthy, leaves me to simply source a Lakland P5 which makes things easier all around.
The CAR Glaub showed up today. I will throw some photos up later. It is indeed a 1.65" B width nut so I guess they happened like that from day 1. The other early Skyline Glaubs I had were a full C width so its an oddity. I could see from some previous posts that this was a bass owned by @Life of Brian who posted some photos when he got it from GC.
I actually don't know. I shot him a PM about picking it up but he hasn't been here for a few months. He purchased it quite a bit ago but one way or another it ended back there. Either through return or someone trading it in. Its in real nice shape and has no mods beyond an upgrade to USA ultralite tuners
Hi people, as I am a Lakland noob and am still getting acquainted with my JO5, I was wondering if any of you have upgraded (if it is an upgrade) to an active preamp from east or audere?
While I can't comment specifically to the JO5 I can tel you that either will wake things up nicely, and while I have used and loved the East products I am currently firmly on board with the Audere products. They are, for me, just so musical and usable with their EQ points and ranges. and dollar for value they're amazing. The only nit-picky knock I ever have that make would them perfect is they don't have an active/passive option like a lot of the East versions do.
I have a fretless with the LH3 and really like it!
Thnx for the info. Having the passive option is something I would probably like. Just in case I run out of battery…
My son needed a different car as his 2008 Accord had over 200,000 miles on it and was in need of some major work ... So I sold him ( for a very good price) my low mileage 2014 Accord ( LOVED THAT CAR!)

That seems a little more work that dropping in an east or audere. Soldering, a different or adapted plate. Or am I mistaken?

I bought this one from Leo who had it built that way so it was a factory install
Do you have a cavity routed in the back? That will limit your choices, if you don't…
I agree 100%. I currently have an Audere on my JO5, but it came to me with a J-Retro. I too worry about not having the passive option but the battery seems to last forever. And it does have the little LED that shows battery status when you plug it in: Audere Audio Preamp Low Battery Indicator
