Lakland Owners Group #69

The only thing that I decided this weekend was that I was tired of dragging around my full rig, so I bought a Sansamp VT Bass Deluxe today to try out using only the VT into the board this Saturday at the next show.

I've stopped taking my Berg cab to venues that have house sound for this reason. I run IEM's anyway, so if there is a dedicated sound man then I'm not schlepping all 100lb of the Kraken! That being said, that cabinet has an AWESOME tone when it's being pushed!

Ya, the tone of my rig is the reason that I have resisted for so long. The Berg and Genz Shuttlemax are just SOOOO awesome. Alas, after this weekend was the straw that broke my back. That and the fact that I discovered that my powered monitor makes a damn good practice amp with a pre in front of it.

Hey everyone. Just a quick update...
I found another Lakie, woohoo! Gonna trade my Fend#r Jazz for it. It's a fair deal and both parties want it to happen..
It's another DJ but in LPB, always liked the LPB, but I like any color DJ! I didn't want to take a chance on a different neck shape, so a DJ it is. I'll probably install my J-Retro in it and put the White DJ back to passive. Keep it as the minty backup or for a slow blues night, ;)
Thanks all who replied and helped make my decision.
This group should be called "LAKLAND NATION". Once you get one, you'll never go back, and that's the truth. my 1st DJ was about 14 yrs ago, sold it and have been walking the long road back ever since. Now I'll have 2 and am VERY pleased and finished with GAS! :D

How about one with rounds and one with flats?

Congrats! Glad you worked something out and will get a second DJ. And fare warning, Lakland GAS is far more severe than your average GAS. I suspect you may find yourself looking at others shortly :)

Mine was realizing I hadn't actually heard my cab since going IEM. I'll still use it for places with no FOH (until we buy subs), but if they've got a few 18's on the floor, it's staying home. That being said, we did a small battle of bands with work a few weeks back and I volunteered my rig as the backline. No IEM's, just dedicated floor wedges and amps outdoors...The Kraken sounded so good being pushed hard!

We have a huge PA with nice subs, so the cab probably won't be missed.

My favorite with active eq's. Hint, hint. Lol

The hardest thing about flats is no judging them until you hear them with a band. It makes a world of difference when you hear them in the mix.

Really?! I believe I've been missing out. Ya know, now I'm definitely gonna string it up today w/the flats...

Well, I'm committed now...

The the all important step one of the 55-64 PJ project has been done!

Just ordered my first ever Skyline! I had a 55-94 USA years ago which I had to sell and I am slowly rebuilding my stable. I have been wanting a P bass for months as there is something about that classic tone and look that works for me. However, I could never find in a stock Fender all the features I want-upgraded P pickup, additional J pickup, 1.5 nut and J-bass neck profile. Then I happened to mosey over to lakland.com and say the new 44-64 custom. I was hooked!!! All the above features plus a bound neck and MOP inlays which I love. I pulled the trigger that same day over at Sweetwater. I won't get it for a couple of weeks as they are on back order but I'll be sure to post some pics. I have played a BG PJ at Namm a couple of years ago and I know the tone will be similar to that, and therefore, awesome. I will look exactly like this as they have only released this model in black. Now if I could only get a gold anodized pickgaurd for it...

Congrats! Those are sweet looking for sure! And the PJ set up is fantastic!

Me too! That would be the ultimate 5 string for my taste. To get all these features in a Five from lakland you would have to custom order one I think as the BG series doesn't have bound and blocked necks.

Well... If you order a US model you can ( far left).... Or there were a few LOG basses with the rw b&b...I chose the black and maple instead...

Anyone here rockin' Lakland strings on their babies?

I remember liking the stock Lakland strings my US Lakie came with almost 5 years ago.
Then I used mostly DR Hi Beam strings.
Nowadays I'm feeling like Hi Beams are lacking in the bottom and mids so I'm curious in going back to Lakland strings.

Any thoughts? :)

Really like both lakland stainless and nickels!
