The necks have a different feel as well... And... As you know... The 4460 head a larger body than the DJ... Feels more comfortable to me...
I have a US version (Jade) and really like it! I happen to like the -94 body style...

Hey everyone. Just a quick update...
I found another Lakie, woohoo! Gonna trade my Fend#r Jazz for it. It's a fair deal and both parties want it to happen..
It's another DJ but in LPB, always liked the LPB, but I like any color DJ! I didn't want to take a chance on a different neck shape, so a DJ it is. I'll probably install my J-Retro in it and put the White DJ back to passive. Keep it as the minty backup or for a slow blues night,

This group should be called "LAKLAND NATION". Once you get one, you'll never go back, and that's the truth. my 1st DJ was about 14 yrs ago, sold it and have been walking the long road back ever since. Now I'll have 2 and am VERY pleased and finished with GAS!

I can attest to this... I "hate" flats... BUT I put a set of sadowsky flats on my PJ ("white lightnin'") and we did an outside live gig... The bass was so nice in the recording!!! I have never heard my bass so crisp and clear in the recording before...growl and yet distinction... Not just " boomy".
I still hate flats when I okay by myself but in a band seeing? Oh my !!!
Using the DJ5 and Mjölnir tonight. Aslo the first time using the VT Bass Deluxe straight in the board and IEMs. After getting used to the IEMs, I'm pretty impressed.

at our (once a year) gig a couple of weeks ago the drummer had a friend who set him up with a set of headphones instead of a stage monitor...HE LOVED IT...trouble was you couldn't talk to him or get his attention during a song!
IEM are the answer...
Gentlemen...newbie LOG member here. Loving my gifted 55-02 that I posted a few pages back! So much that I just struck a deal on a trade for another Lakland...pics and info to come...
The real reason for this post is to let everyone know about a cool find I first stumbled across almost a year ago.
On my usual rounds visiting the local guitar shops, I spotted a pretty special Lakland at a true Mom & Pop store. Seems the owner had a very good friend who was a pretty good bassist and collector of nice things. The friend had passed away and the store had come to acquire some of the collection. There were many nice things but for me the crown jewel was a Lakland Joe Osborne #008! Complete with the Joe's name on the headstock, carefully cut birdseye maple position markers, stack knob config and beautifully thick slab board.
Fast forward almost ten months... I hadn't visited this shop much cause it's a bit out of my way but today I stop in and find it is still there! I also find out the owner is having some health issues and so I thought I might help out a bit by showing this to some folks who might be interested in it.
If anyone would like to know more about this (or if you know something about it that I should) please message me.
I believe he is asking a fair price for this. They did not put me up to this and I have absolutely no stake in it, I really am just trying to help them out and hook one of you enthusiasts up with what I think is a very collectible Lakland. I have a few more pics and will provide contact info to anyone seriously interested.

Wow, #8--that's quite a find. No doubt a very sweet bass. I wish I had the cash.
In my experience, and it could be a fluke, but in my experience the Lakland strings that came on my bass were stainless, and when I got a replacement set from them, neither had a tapered B. BUT, when I ordered a set of nickles, they DID have a tapered B. Could just be the different style that's throwing you off. Or I could be wrong and something else is going on all together haha
Anyone here rockin' Lakland strings on their babies?
I remember liking the stock Lakland strings my US Lakie came with almost 5 years ago.
Then I used mostly DR Hi Beam strings.
Nowadays I'm feeling like Hi Beams are lacking in the bottom and mids so I'm curious in going back to Lakland strings.
Any thoughts?
I know this is a few weeks old but I thought I'd let you know that the Lakland Nickles are my favorite strings ever.
I have another Lakland on the way (Skyline 55-64) - does that mean I can get another number? VBG!
