Lakland Owners Group #69

Hey, that's my old 55-02.. Great bass. Looks even better than I remember. Miss 'er.
My 1A and 1B. PM'd for a number.

I only use Delano pickups with Laklands - the pairing just works for me. Both the PMVC 4 FE/M2 and PC 4 HE/M2 I have used had much more clarity, transparency, bottom and output than the NeoPunch. One important factor for me is having transparent pickups that allow me to shape the tone and get anything from vintage to modern.

Okay, so as I am always the tinkerer and willing to succumb to the consensus that my 55-01 would be mo' better with a preamp other than the stock MK1... I've gone and picked up an LH3 pre to put in there. I really like the LH3 in my 55-02 so it seems like a no brainer.

Here's a question:

The LH3 preamp is coming to me with no pots. Is there any reason that I can't re-use the pots that are already installed with the MK-1?

I would think they should work just fine but I thought I would throw this out to the Lakland brotherhood for confirmation.

Just because...here is a photo of the bass. Those are Nordstrand Fat Stacks in case you're wondering.

So some feedback please, which pickups sound best in your opinions between the Fralins in the older P basses or the newer hybrids in the newer models, just curious as I have a 44-64 Skyline coming in and I do have a set of Fralins sitting in my parts bin..

well....THAT all depends on the sound you are after....me personally? I like the Fralin/ Hanson Vintage sound.

The Neos are pretty modern sounding....different than the Fralins - not better or worse...just what you like.

You said it just got there...do you like the sound? if yes, leave it...if not, Fralin it and see which you like better!
