I've been considering and Audere as a replacement for a Bartolini NTMB. Does the Audere have better highs than the NTMB? I love the NTMB, but lately I'm craving somethimg more HiFi.

They audere didn't really change the natural sound of my bass. The preamp to me responds with very small turns of the knobs.

To compare the two I think you may want to review the specs for each. Audere has some info on their site

Thinking about doing an Audere for the DJ5. (Was doing some research - get them to send the unit ready for the curved DJ plate, and I mount it on the plate.)

Anybody tried an Audere on their DJ?

Not tried the Audere. Do have a DJ-Retro. They come complete with mounted curved DJ plate (supplied by Lakland nontheless), it's a great preamp.

I've had both and like the J-Retro and Audere. I think for this bass, I'd like to have the Audere preamp. But can't go wrong with either.

How different are the skyline basses from the USA made ones ? Might be in the market for a new bass, and Lakland is one of the ones Im thinking of, but Im not interested in paying the high price the US made ones carry (just dont have those funds).

You won't be disappointed with a Skyline. Several players on here have played both and prefer skylines. I've owned both, and I prefer the US models. If I had to downsize, I would go Skyline without question.

I have had both US and Skylines... I decided to go with Skylines because I play out a lot, and I won't get too upset if a skyline gets lifted. If my US did, I would get the insurance money but would have to wait almost a year to get a replacement. The Skylines play and sound great, and are easily replaced.

I picked up a used 55-14 for a great price. USA made with out the top and birds eye finger board. Also the body is alder. I can't say enough about the bass. Never played a skyline. I don't think they have the dual graphite truss rods or the quartersawn neck

Yes, Skylines do have the graphite rods in the neck.....

Yes, Skylines do have the graphite rods in the neck.....

For clarity, only the 5 string Skylines have graphite reinforcement, the 4 strings do not. All US models do have this feature.

I'm about to be back in the club! Skyline DJ5 should be arriving early next week. My neck/shoulder demands I keep an eye out for lightweight basses. So when this 9-lb DJ5 popped up, I had to grab it. As you can tell from my avatar, I like the look!

It is very nice. The Pbass pickup cuts through a mix well, while Jazz pickup as bite. The preamp is very flexible and bright.
