[Turn Em Loose]

I mentioned this in the Roscoe forum, but since I play Laklands as well, I have a question.

Anyone have luck with pedalboards, thinking of going pretty simple, like David Curran's board (Elevation Church/Lauren Daigle). See attached pic.

I play mostly at Church with Modern Worship (Church of the Highlands) with large rooms. IEMs with Avioms.

I have a Zoom B3 that does the job if needed so far, but as a musician, I am always down for tinkering.

Anyone have a pedalboard they recommend and/or pedals/thoughts.

My thoughts are (not in order):
-Aguilar ToneHammer DI
-Creation Audio Labs Grizzley
-EHX Micro-Synth Bass
-TC Poly Tuner
-Zoom B3

I've gotten a LOT of mileage with a tuner, MXR BOD, Broughton H/LPF and a Aggy THDI. In that order. Very simple, effective and not that 'spensive.

Of course, that doesn't stop me from buying new stuff! But I've got issues. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig issues......

I miss my Duck more than than any Bass from the past. If I start playing with a bang again, it's the first purchase on the list.

Interested if anyone is using either of the nano heads (TE Elf, tC BAM) or headphone amp (like Phil Jones Big Head) for prax only. Also considering GK Plex preamp pedal.

I’m relegated to headphone prax to maintain marital bliss, would like something to just stay in prax room and be always available. A backup big head seems overkill.

Thoughts on any of these?

While it's probably not where you want to be, and an admittedly pricy option, I find the Line 6 Stomp to be a great practice tool. Besides having it primarily as a backup it ended up being my current #1 practice go to. Besides the simplicity of hookup, small size, huge assortment of available sounds, for me the best part is a simple USB cable to the computer gets me instant access to whatever music I am working on, the whole of YouTube, etc. with a single cable.

The duck is one of the best P’s. Massive output. Perfect combination of a vintage and modern sound. Easy rod access, slim and fast neck and in total the better alternative to a Fender P.

Strangely, I think I'm the only person on the planet that hasn't owned a Fender P... but with this, I have no desire for one

I use this, they stopped making them, they have an updated (but not bass-specific) model.

I’m a huge fan of the GK Plex. It’s hard to find a good Preamp/DI with a tuner, compressor and distortion. I’ve used this pedal to go direct to the FOH many times with great success. It also works great as a preamp and for quiet practice as well.

I’ve heard that Fodera’s really are worth the extreme price tag. So, you may not end up thrilled with a Skyline. A US has that “feel” of quality that is very hard to describe with words. I’ve heard this from many people that I’ve handed one of my US Laklands too, that had never held one before. I’ve recently found that “feel” in some non-Lakland basses. Strangely, those basses fetched 3k and 7k when new, LOL. Laklands will always be my favorite. But, it is fun to play around with other stuff from time to time.

Definitely the expense.... The Fodera is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I needed (translation...wanted) another 5 string bass and I had read that the Lakland Skyline series was a good “imported” bass. I also read that the 55-02 used the same pickups and preamp that the more expensive USA version uses, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Thanks Jedi....Tone and feel are a very personal thing. I can tell you that personally I’m very happy with the Fodera and think it’s worth every penny I spent on it. This is my first Lakland and if my past behavior says anything about my future purchases, I will most likely end up with a US Lakland....eventually.

I can echo what Jedi said. My old skyline 44-02 played and sounded every bit as good as my 44-94. It didn’t have a feel that exuded premium/luxury, but the price tag reflected this very well and so I was thrilled overall. The 44-94 has a more premium “feel”, but it doesn’t actually play or sound any better.

Someone buying a 55-02 as a backup bass is going to be one happy camper.

I suppose it's like us mere mortals using a Skyline and having a Peavey as a backup...

This beautiful beast arrived a few weeks ago, actually picked it up when the bomb cyclone hit Denver. Anyway, this bass is a thing if beauty! It's a 44-60 Classic I purchased directly from Lakland apparently was one of their NAMM basses. I can't say enough good things about this bass!

I used the same pics for the Genzler club in the amp forum... Hence the gratuitous Genzler swag in the photo.

Just a question... I would love to get a red tort pickguard for this. Would a standard jazz bass pg fit?
