Yeah ya can
They had one with a wenge neck on their fb the other day... interesting indeed...
USA Lakland 5594 with Claro Walnut Top, Wenge Neck with Ebony Fingerboard. This is some crazy stuff!
Oh man....roast the body ...
How about roasted birdseye on a non-roasted flame maple neck?
This is Jeff’s Carlo. I’ll have to get him to take some closeups, the birdseye looks GREAT, as does the flame!
Don’t have to wait for a 120 day build time.
120 is nothing!
Wenge??? That's Warwick territory! Very cool material selection on that bass, I'm a fan! In related news, my unicorn has arrived and I must say - I'm not disappointed. I'll reserve gushing accolades for a little later, but it does sound & feel fantastic so far!
I’m on day #152 right now, for a standard US 44-64 build. Lakland told me yesterday that the bass is in queue for assembly, and should be finished within the next 7-10 days. So my build time will end up being around 160 days. In their defense, I did ask for a lighter weight bass, so they had to wait until they came across some lighter weight alder before they could build my bass. It probably would’ve been closer to 120 days, if not for that.
consider yourself lucky.
in recent years my wait for semi-custom at other shops has exceeded 9 months.
I waited about 9 months for my totally custom Spector
I waited 8 months for my semi-custom Sadowsky.
I’m over 9 months for my Carlo, probably approaching a year. But, I am patient.
Considering an inventory adjustment... putting my unique 55-60 on the market. I may come to my senses later and pull this ad down but for now, if anyone is interested:
For Sale/Trade - Lakland 55-60 Black and Maple - Nordstrand - J-Retro
I’m not very patient when it comes to waiting on orders for music equipment. 9 months of waiting for a new Lakie, torture!
Come to your senses man!
It’s my first ever new bass custom order. I have a feeling I’ve started something.... something expensive LOL.
You feel correctly JJ
I am feeling some pangs of regret already. This is not a bass that’s easily replaceable.
3 string, 8 string (EADG w/ octave strings), an exotic wood 4 or 5, a ‘51 P (4 or 5), a 4 with a tremolo... I would struggle for months trying to decide what to have Carl build.
Bit of early Lakland beauty, battle scars included!
