How about roasted birdseye on a non-roasted flame maple neck?

Wenge??? That's Warwick territory! Very cool material selection on that bass, I'm a fan! In related news, my unicorn has arrived and I must say - I'm not disappointed. I'll reserve gushing accolades for a little later, but it does sound & feel fantastic so far!
I’m on day #152 right now, for a standard US 44-64 build. Lakland told me yesterday that the bass is in queue for assembly, and should be finished within the next 7-10 days. So my build time will end up being around 160 days. In their defense, I did ask for a lighter weight bass, so they had to wait until they came across some lighter weight alder before they could build my bass. It probably would’ve been closer to 120 days, if not for that.

in recent years my wait for semi-custom at other shops has exceeded 9 months.

I’m not very patient when it comes to waiting on orders for music equipment. 9 months of waiting for a new Lakie, torture!
It’s my first ever new bass custom order. I have a feeling I’ve started something.... something expensive LOL.
I am feeling some pangs of regret already. This is not a bass that’s easily replaceable.
3 string, 8 string (EADG w/ octave strings), an exotic wood 4 or 5, a ‘51 P (4 or 5), a 4 with a tremolo... I would struggle for months trying to decide what to have Carl build.
