Lakland Owners Group #69

those are amazing looking and I love the straps!

Thank you. The ones on the ends (my #1 and #2 basses) are Ethos Custom straps from their Stars and Stripes line and the two in the middle are Anthology Gear straps. Super nice straps overall.

I did pull the cover and see that it is the standard MK-1 preamp so while I haven't messed a ton with tone settings (everything flat), my guess is the treble will sound fairly brittle when I turn it up but as I'm not a slapper and prefer mids over highs, I may not care a whole lot. Although, I DO think I have an Aguilar OBP-3 pre hanging around here somewhere if I get the hankering to do some mods.

I just picked up a used Skyline Duck Dunn (44-64?) in CAR (made in Indonesia). On the surface it looked like hell, but after I cleaned it thoroughly cleaned it and tightened the tuning keys up it now looks almost new. The previous owner definitely kept it in good playing condition, but it didn’t look like they ever cleaned it and the prior owner seemed to have fairly acidic sweat, as most every fret was tarnished heavily. What a great sounding bass, and it’s fairly light, to boot. Here’s my obligatory bad cell phone pic with my American Original Jazz. 2 peas in a pod.

The CAR on the Duck Dunn is slightly darker than the Fender, but you can’t tell when they’re more than 1ft apart.

Just drop in a Bart NTMB pre. Those stock pups are killer reverse P's and mate well with a NTMB.

The Lakland shop is shut down until April 7th. My US 44-64 is at their shop, having some work done on it, so I’m a bit bummed that I’ll have to wait a while longer to get it back. It’s understandable why they had to close shop though. I hope they’re back up and running well after April 7th.

Hey gang! I was hoping someone with a Decade or knowledge of large case Chi Sonic singles can help with a question. I was checking my pickup orientation and wanted to make sure they are correct. The way they are installed on mine is with the coils on the outer side of the pickup cases. Meaning, the bridge pickup coil is next to the bridge and the neck pickup coil is next to the neck.

Is that correct?

"Correct" is whatever sounds best to you so flip them and find out. That'll be $175 to my PP account.

The afore mentioned pictures.
Included a pic of the case as it is simply amazing and the best case I've ever seen.View attachment 3757062 View attachment 3757063 View attachment 3757064 View attachment 3757065

so how does one go about joining this club?

I received a lovely custom 44-76 from Mr. Jedi Bass a few days ago. As the DFW area is on lock-down I've had to learn to set it up myself. I think i'm finally done w/that (minus a few tweaks here and there) so I'm finally ready to show it off.
pictures forthcoming
It’s his first Lakland y’all!!! Coming out of the gates STRONG!!! Welcome to the family, Chris!

SWEET! Awesome looking bass, and welcome. Enjoy that funk machine. I WANT ONE!

thank you sir. I'm a crazy man and will be using it for Jazz and some weird darker sounding stuff.
