So all this talk of mid freq settings has me now looking to adjust the settings on my '76. I think I'm gonna go for setting the mid point to 700hz.
Never done this before so wish me luck

I'm rocking an LH-3
per this diagram

there isn't a setting for 700 (like on the bart) so I went w/900hz.
Got amp set flat (w/a little presence boost) and the LH-3 set to frown (liberal hi cut, modest mid boost and slight low cut) and it is growlin' w/these not quite broken in Chromes!
I love it.

Your gonna have me tinkering, if you don’t stop! I can see it now... me putting flats on a 4-94 and... wait for it.... tweaking the mid switches for the first time ever!

So messing about online, discovered a couple of Lakland gems.

One is that Lakland once made an all-rosewood 55-94.

Which is kinda fun.

The other, and this is really interesting, is that there was nearly a Lakland Willie Weeks signature model!
Now that I would have liked to see - this is the prototype:

That Rosewood Bass is epic! I’ve currently posted my Willie Weeks on here, possibly looking to trade for a p-style Lakland... but I’m thinking I might just get it modified and keep it... decisions, decisions...

A few weeks ago I would have agreed, but after getting acquainted with the HB30, my thoughts on short-scale have changed. Not sure if I would gig with this HB30 tho. With that Lakin I would.

the only way I could go short scale is the same way I could go Fiver....i would have to go all in.
Muscle memory is so important to me. I'm so particular in that regard. Something like reducing scale or widening the neck for another string would throw me off...i could get used to it ...but only if every bass (or my only bass...but lets face it thats never happening) was configured in that way.

Reverb and eBay now require sales tax. And, Reverb’s fees to sellers are too high. That translates into higher and less flexible prices for buyers. That alone is enough to turn me off to buying basses from either site. Also, most sellers do not include shipping in their prices.

The last time I came close to buying a bass on reverb, I tried to negotiate a lower price, with zero luck. I decided to put it in my cart anyways. I got to the checkout and saw that taxes and shipping we’re going to add hundreds to the price, and I bailed on the purchase and bought a bass from a seller on Talkbass, where buyers AND sellers win every time. I’m done with reverb!
