Lakland Owners Group #69

Just dropped in a new set of Nordstrand NJ5FS split coil pickups. I recorded the stock pickups and to my somewhat beat up ears they sound very similar, really identical so far. I was expecting some tone change, but didn't expect that from a split coil design. I'll take it. Much quieter also. Not totally silent, but way better. The classic ash / maple slap mid-cut and snap, it's right there!

Also installed a neck shim to bring the bridge saddles up, playing great

So after much adieu here is Celestia (my Wife insists on naming my Basses)
She was adopted from Loger supreme Mr. JediBass.
He was kind enough to outfit her with some Dadario HalfRounds and include a lovely Gecko Strap.
Though my journey with her has only just begun I can already say she sounds amazing.

That's impressive work to me. Of course, I get anxiety over changing strings. In fact, that anxiety was reinforced tonight when I attempted to put LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats on... The E string broke in 2 places as I was tuning it up. And I got the correct "Thru-body" version. Sigh...

wow, maybe a bad string from La Bella? I’m a long time flat player and haven’t had one break.

Is that the bass that was originally Markus's? Painted in a BMW color?
If it is, I remember making a BMW strap. To match the interior of his car of the same color

Yeah, that strap is not leaving my place anytime soon. It matches my black leather belt and BMW belt buckle, LOL.

Markus turned me onto BMW. I currently drive a black sapphire metallic 335i. So, that strap is sorta sentimental. I’m not sure what bass will be wearing it, but it will get used.

I have played that bass! You are very fortunate to have it.

Yes sir indeed. Now I own the 76 and the Strap lol.

Yes sir indeed. Both of my Laklands came from from Markus via Jedi.

Indeed sir. She is amazing. I feel truly blessed to have two amazing Laklands. Jedi has told me now that I have a Red (the Scheff) a White (the 76) now I need a Blue. So which model should my blue be guys?
I'm thinking a J-sonic but I'm open to suggestions.

I have this theory that almost every Lakland bass was once owned by Markus and/or JJ.

I can say that literally both of mine were.
