While I was digging my way to the back of my bass closet to get my Rickenbacker out for a up to date photo for a 'First Bass' thread here on TB. I had to move this beauty to get to it and thought I should give it some fresh air & playing time. This has an Audere classic 4 band preamp that really works well with the humbuckers.
That is gorgeous! Yes Doug that reminds me of yours. Yes Mr. Matt that needs some playing time out of the closet!
Lakland experts! While I was changing out the 9 volt battery in my 55-94 today, instead of the screw coming out the screw and the brass screw sleeve
that holds the screw in place came out together.. I’ll take it down to the luthier Wednesday. Hopefully they can fill the wood reinsert the screw sleeve and solve the issue.
Any suggestions? This isn’t something I’d attempt to repair myself.

I did a smoked pork tenderloin tonight.
Wrapped in bacon of course.
The charcoal that I used was fairly heavy smoke and then I added some hickory just to make sure that the tenderloin got good.
The bacon was a bit overdone because I needed to sear it to make sure I got up to temperature.
That being said, the meat was extremely tender and delicious because of all the fat that got put back into the meat.
With the residual heat, I also smoked / cooked some asparagus.
I thought it was pretty good but the rest of the family thought it was a little over smokey.
This is some great charcoal Brandon. I can see why they love it.
I guess I need to figure out which charcoal I'm doing with which meat.

What does the hole on the bass look like?
It’s the hole closest to the top in the picture. All the other screw holes have their brass inserts intact.
Put a bunch of toothpicks in there so that the grub piece will have something to grip to and then screw that grub back in. That is not a high stress spot so that should totally fix it. That technique is used for stripped strap buttons and that is way more of a high stress area.
Love my new 44-64 custom . Installed new Labella’s and ran it through my new Sushibox SBTV tube pre amp into my rig . Not only does look wicked , but oh man does it sound wicked .

As a medical guy, I know the weight of someone saying they “would not attempt it myself.” I removed 2 toes once with a dull lawnmower blade… it was and still is NOT pretty!! A pro surgeon prettied up my work.
Anyways… if you wanted to, you could split a piece of a toothpick or two, wet them with CA glue, stuff em in the hole, and drive the brass insert back in place. Let the glue do it’s job and you’re good.
My new to me 2014 Skyline 55-02 Standard finally arrived. She's on great shape for a 8 y/o bass, but have some dings and scratches here and there.
Played her a bit and just fall in love. The neck is fantastic, super confortable for a 5 stringer and the tone, that tone... How can I have been living all this years without a Lakeland???
Now she just needs a nice clean and setup, a fresh set of strings and some adjustments to enter rotation this weekend.
Question, do you use any specific product to clean that beautiful maple fretboard and neck? I has some stains that I will love to clean, but doesn't want to ruin the finish...
