All the sweet tone-shaping pedals I've got on a PT Nano+ recording & tone 'board, and for my session sent to my main group's first original song & debut single... I plugged into a Rupert Neve RNDI with settings all at noon, center pos on the bridge pup switch. 100% nominal position. Couple of feature parts where I added some reverb and a cool pitch-shift delay for the intro.

Engineer says he added a bit of compression for when I punched a few notes, but it was that and a lil bit of EQ for mix placement and that's it. No re-amp thru the house Ampeg rig or anything. Just some broken-in-but-still-lively Super Slinkies and one fine instrument.

'03 MIK Skyline 44-02 Deluxe FTW, likely my best instrument purchase to date! Short of, that is, a 1960 P bass that took a lot of restoration work but is its own masterpiece of tone

Tested the 55-02 at band rehearsal yesterday, and... I think I'll just sell all my other basses now, because damn that was nice!

Plonked straight into the mix, felt really good to play. I think I played better than I've done in ages. And that B string was heaven!

The Lakland necks are the nicest I’ve played. Especially for a 5 String 35” scale. The 55-02 is a joy to play and has many tonal options. I’m not surprised you love it. Now you need another!

Well, I pulled the trigger on this one yesterday. Had to sell a couple basses to balance out the $, but I think it'll be worth it!

Well the 2006 MIK 4402 Deluxe came in and after a set up, new strings and tweaking the dip switches and preamp, it looks to be a great bass. Balance is perfect and its light at 8.1 pounds. One issue is the pickups. The Barts are too dark and compressed for my taste and I am sure others love them for that. Any recommendations? I am looking at the Aguilar set now (4MJ-HC). But I am open to other ideas. I am happy with the preamp btw.

The aguilar mm isn’t coil tappable, fyi

I had the more recent Bart set up in a 55-94 before, that wasn’t dark at all, a little more hifi and clear, but still versatile (and was coil tappable ).

Thanks that was definitely one of the questions I was going to ask Aguilar.

The Howard Ulyate one looks interesting as well.

I am not in a hurry so I will take my time and make the right choice.
