That is very nice looking. That "relic" work looks like honest wear from playing and time. For some reason to me, I think FSO's with a pickguard look best aged like the one you bought. Nice!
Decided to order a pearl white pickguard today. Brian said they cut one,and send it out next week sometime? Ordered the one with no screw holes. For my Skyline 44-02 Cherry Burst.
This one is sitting in a case right now but figured I’d show how white pearl on cherry burst is a really good look!
That's going to look nice!!! I was impressed with how quick my pickguards were made and shipped. Less than a week for both. Definitely the right move ordering from Lakland.
I recommend Scotch Double-sided tape. It sticks better than I thought it would. I had a hard time pulling off the first pickguard. For the first pickguard I put it around the entire perimeter. For the second I used much less and it sticks securely.

I use that stuff for routing template. There’s two strengths that I’ve seen so far. One is “permanent”. I use the permanent sparingly. Works great!
I would be careful with this stuff.
When I had a 44-02 I got pickguard for it with no holes and used double-sided tape to hold it in place, but would take it off from time time because of the experience I had decades prior Van Halen-izing my P Bass.
For the P Bass I used car pinstripe tape, which I noticed after time that the tape raised the surface of the finish, and I believe it was permanent. I can't remember as it was a long time ago and I sold it, for other reasons not long after that. But even after removing the tape there were visible and tactical raised lines on the surface.
I never gelled with that 44-02 and traded it so didn't have it long enough to witness the effect long term.
The caveat is that the tape on the Lakland and Fender were totally different kinds of tape.
I would check with a luthier to be sure, but from my experience adhesive on a finish could have a detrimental effect.

Most of time if you put a pickguard on a bass,you plan on leaving it on there? Noticed on lot of Fender P basses have to remove the pickguard to get to the control knobs and the pots. According if you don't want to drill holes for the pickguard.
Since mine is decorative more than functional, I’ve been taking them on and off to see what I like. And I realized I like it with the mint pickguard, with the tortoise shell pickguard and without a pickguard.

Thanks! Yeah, the one thing I changed on each of my Laklands when I purchased them was switch out the knobs to these....

I just like how they look more than the plastic knobs that come on the bass. Plus, they're easier to grip (especially if you've been playing for a bit and your hands are sweaty) to switch from active to passive (or with the dual mid frequency I have on the 4-94 Custom Deluxe).

Just received my white pearl pickguard from
Brian@Lakland today. Got it sent out real fast! Hopefully the double sided tape don't effect the finish when removed? I just laid it on to check the fit,and it is perfect.
