My clear guard came from Quick Guards, quality is excellent, but yes, be patient. The black quard on my 44-02 was a hybrid of the standard shape guard that I ordered from Lakland that was shipped to me very quickly. Then @JEDI BASS took the 44-01 guard shape and turned the black standard shape to what is on the 44-02 now. A lot of work, but it turned out very good. Thanks again JJ! View attachment 5233202

I solved my pickup noise on the DJ-4 and my other basses today. If you remember it seemed like my Lakland was very noisy.

After getting a few more basses and finding I had the same issue, I started to do some troubleshooting and narrowed the noise down to a dimmer switch halfway across the house.

I killed the switch (which was always on BTW, because I have to walk thru that room to get to my studio) and the noise instantly stopped.

I love an easy solution that doesnt involve selling or hacking up a bass! Dimmer switches can wreak havoc with single coils.

Really glad you found the culprit. There are several sources of things that can cause noise like that are in our homes that we don’t think about. Another good reason TB is such a good source of information.

Can those posts be deleted or edited? IMHO, Lakland makes a quality product, USA or Skyline. I have had a few noise problems that I found out were my fault not the problem with QC from the manufacturer. Lakland works with you if a problem arises. My Lon gone# 19 4-94 had an electronics problem with the Bart pre. Dan took care of it super fast. Bartolini had a fix for the issue. My two Skylines have been exemplary.

Oh well. I wouldn’t delete that Black AJ! I REALLY like that. Only thing I don’t care for on is the binding on the neck. Not a fan of binding, but I could get past it. Sweet bass.
