Las Vegas Shooting

Seems you got the firetruck out before any fire started.

Seems you don’t realize that posts were already deleted or edited to conform with rules before you posted that.

A park putting a “beware of bears” sign up after they’ve already chewed on some campers is too late.

People are lining up here, waiting several hours to donate blood, just so they can feel that they can do something. Strange how the worst situations- This, Hurricanes, etc. often bring out the best in people, who can normally be pretty indifferent towards one another.
As the pieces to this event slowly come together, it becomes even more worrisome. Here was a guy (the shooter) with plenty of money, and not even a parking ticket on his record. ISIS made a claim that he converted to Islam, but that my be their BS.

His father was a criminal, frankly, his brother seemed a little out of sorts on TV, but after what he was faced with hearing, that might be the norm.
Still to be dealt with are his Wife, out of the Country, what was the status of their relationship, etc.

But scariest of all to me- Is that there is a possibility of physical brain damage of some kind, that could cause an otherwise stable appearing individual to absolutely snap, and do the kind of act that was done. The functions of the brain are still much a mystery.

Spraying automatic weapons fire into a crowd of 20,000+, carrying enough ammo & firepower to do such damage, shooting from a perch on a Hotel Room overlooking a joyous crowd, out on a beautiful night in 'Vegas, to rock out and have fun, listen to their favorite performers, etc.

Las Vegas has had this Fest, and Electric Daisy, and Life is Beautiful, and so many others- It's a City built on providing fun and an escape for the entire family, whatever your bag is.
My Girl and I have spent the last 3 years entertaining out here; we love it! People are here to cut loose, much more vibrant than the local bars we played in, even in a big city like Los Angeles, where we're from.
Las Vegas is home now. Will things change after this? Are peeps gonna still come out and break loose?

Yes, they will I guarantee it. Maybe, somehow security can be amped up, IDK- Hard to see what more could be done, unless Hotels start checking luggage like the TSA does- It might have to happen.
I can tell you that the Casinos and Auditoriums where we play; they are TIGHT- Sure, you can drink, dance, and go crazy, but cross a line, and you will get a quick escort OUT, maybe all the way to the Clark County Detention Center!

Right now, there is a tangible pall over the City, but life goes on. You gotta be tough to live in the Desert! For us "Locals"
its our JOB to keep Visitors entertained & Happy!
We'll keep on doing it, I guarantee that we will.

Listening to the social media vids, 3 long bursts of a fully automatic weapon, sprayed into a crowd. Not short controlled bursts like someone with training might do.

Just horrible for everyone.

Well he did have a hunting license, so he's probably decent with a rifle and aim etc. However, it's not like there are a lot of places to test your skills with a fully automatic weapon. Thankfully he wasn't a trained professional. Still, doing that much damage at distance; must've been a large caliber weapon and not some cheesy mack 10 or smaller automatic.

Oddly / Ironically enough:

One of many;
Las Vegas Gun Range - Ultimate Shooting Experience | The Range 702

Note- Not implying a connection of ANY sort whatsoever.

True. I know there are those kinda places in the southwest, but it's not like you're gonna show up with your own illegal automatic weapon (Just guessing he acquired it illegally). Those places typically provide rentals, so I guess he could have practiced on an identical model, but it would be hard to know if his personal weapon was prone to jamming, or if the ammo was quality. I'm just guessing it's an AK or AR due to commonality. I'm sure there are black market Israeli or European automatics, but they can't be as common.

Sheriff Lombardo just held a news conference here, and addressed the issue of the firearms. They feel at this time, that the weapons used were modified to be fully-automatic, although the verdict is not final on that as of yet.

The ranges here in Vegas are attractions; simply offering those who wish to do so, the opportunity to fire a fully automatic weapon.

Again- no connection made here, no judgement call either. There is still much to be learned about this shooter, and I think that as the details are forthcoming, we may be more able to connect the dots as to the reason "WHY?", if in fact, there can ever be a reason for something like this happening.

Odd how people and gurus are saying "he didn't fire in short bursts...obviously untrained".

To me the guy was intent on doing maximum damage with continuous fire.

I honestly don't know a lot about guns, but I do know that a jam is much more likely in full auto. Given that mass damage was his intent, I would think avoiding a jam would be high on his list. And if it was self-modified, I would expect the quality of operation to be less than that of a manufactured automatic. But maybe he just had a bunch of backups and was just spraying into what must've been a large target (20k people all packed in tight, right?).

Heard he had ten rifles. Don't know how much ammo though.

Reports have said he had between 10 and 17 guns and lots of ammo. Full auto for more than a minute risks overheating and jamming. He brought plenty to switch out.
I just can't comprehend it.
