Actualy, two of the listings I showed above got almost $1800.

Aren't you the one that returned yours because you didn't like the neck? Hmm, actually, I'm not sure why you didn't keep it. There is proven demand for the bass well in excess of the $1100 purchase price from MF.

I don't think you making anything up, but I think you're missing my point. Even during the sale, when anyone could buy one new for $1100, sellers were getting in excess of $1500 for the same bass. A point you tried to deny above, and I point I more than proved with my links. No, not every bass that is listed sells immediately, but to have so many sell in such a short period of time, DURING THE SALE, is pretty impressive.

Reaction: Having never even seen a Ric in person (due to lack of availability in the area) I took a chance on buying blind. I could not be happier. Not only did I convince the sales rep to get me the Jet Glow for the sale price but this thing has absolutely no flaws in craftsmanship and is a dream to play! Consider me a "Ric Guy" after only a few hours of play.

What insult would that be? Although I could probably think of an insult or two that might apply to somone who opens up their mouth in a public forum to say something negative about something they just bought BEFORE they even try to address the problem with the company that made it. If someone were willing to go above and beyond (refinishing or replacing applies here) to take care of me, the LAST thing I would do is insult them in public.

While ordering a classical guitar today, I spoke with a MF customer service person and queried her about the backorder situation. She told me that we do need to confirm our desire to wait for the backordered bass, and at least once a month (like someone else mentioned) or it could get cancelled.

I didn't deny people were getting in excess of $1500 for the same bass. I said that I saw many trying to get more than $1800 (many much more), that didn't sell.

Ill just leave you with this, since we appear to be going around in circles. I hope the bass you receive in 2013 meets your expectations.

My instrument is on the way back to RIC for a full replacement, since it had finish problems. While I wouldn't insult them due to the problems here, I see no reason to heap praise on them for allowing a $2,000 instrument to leave the factory with obvious finish and assembly problems. If anything, it's annoying that I will be without my instrument for weeks while they fix a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

I was helping a carpenter build a cottage 10 years ago. We were setting the roof trusses across the 38 foot span of the building. He would get his end in place and then I would do the same on my end before nailing it in. One of the trusses seemed a little short on my end and I asked him about it. He answered;

"They're still built by human beings."

People make mistakes. If you want an instrument that is absolutely "perfect" all the time it would not be made from wood and human hands would not have worked on it's construction.

This is not to say that some things should have been noticed at final inspection but it's also quite possible that some of these "defects" were not apparent when they left the factory.

Now, can we relax and get this thread back on track? I think it's about keeping up to date on the back order situation for those of us patiently waiting for a new Ric.

Why does that matter? The only relevant point is what those basses are selling for, not what unrealistic sellers are asking. And as guy n. says, $300+ is a very tidy profit.

I was pointing out that not everyone succeeded in only paying $1100 like he inferred, and warning people it isn't a slam dunk if they are in it for only a profit. He made it seem like they were being snatched up left and right on Ebay at $1800 when they aren't. Consider this. If the instrument isn't perfect, it's gonna end up hurting the seller in probably more ways than one and they will be eating the shipping costs too. If there's one flaw that's not portrayed in pictures there will certainly be one unhappy Ebay consumer. They won't tolerent of imperfections. I hope future comments are actually about the subject and purpose of this thread. I know I will refrain from fanning flames.

This thread is being cluttered up with unrelated content, and I was guilty at it too so I deleted all my posts that aren't related to this thread orginal intent. Maybe some of you others could too. Please let us know if you succeeded in being offered a different color. I don't want to even ask now because I want one of newer ones because of the redesigned neck I've been hearing about. Also, love the Fireglo of the older ones, but later one isn't so endearing to me, so Blue will be fine. I might go for a Mapleglo though. I already have a nice Black Bass so Jetglo isn't that appealing to me.

It's surprising they still have the sale going on.
