That sounds like BS to me.
Who knows, all I know is I cant afford corruption within the US but certainly some people can.

That sounds like BS to me.

I realize that once in a while they arrest a real criminal and bring him to justice, but detereance? I don't think so.
.
Whoa, tough crowd here. As a matter of fact I was proud of what I did. I saw someone was about to give me a hard time and turned the tables on him, winning the respect of nearly 100 people in the process. Believe me, the league bowlers treated me much differently after that interaction.
@ Eric Perry: I've never been arrested, I'm pretty law-abiding, way to analyze my post and find my true character.
As for everyone else: You resort to name calling from the safety of the internet, yet I'm a tool for not giving in to police intimidation?![]()
You are "proud" of that interaction ?
What a tool![]()
You guys did read the part at the beginning Agent's story were the officer at the alley started the interaction by asking a disingenuous question, either to fluff his own ego or to (figuratively) pick a fight, right? Regardless of the profession, it's pretty much a douche move so I think it's a pretty funny story.
And this thread has jumped the shark too. It was supposed to be humorous. It no longer is. Buh bye thread.
As it goes in Michigan....City and county cops often only have to qualify once - when hiring. So they frequently DO get fat or otherwise out of shape. And unless they cause an accident they don't have to worry about drug testing. State troopers have to qualify yearly - this includes drug screening. State trooper are always slim and trim here and look like they could chase you down on foot. What are your thoughts regarding overweight officers?
Practically speaking, if they were to encounter a fit suspect, they do not appear likely to be able to apprehend them without calling for assistance. Granted, calling for assistance is probably proper protocol (greater safety for officer & lower liability). So, other than a glorified radio operator, what good are they? Are they able to chase & apprehend a suspect?
Is this more prevalent in large city departments, where these types can linger for years without being reprimanded? I ask this because I work near the sports stadiums in Philly, and frequently see a lot of the puffier officers working the games.
