Out of disappointment with the new Squier line I did some googling to blow off some steam and look what showed up... I think this looks kickass! Might be in the Player Plus line-up, judging from that color scheme. {}

I think it was a part of that Alternate Reality series they did 2 or 3 years ago and did okay? Also, people have been making their own partscaster Meteoras the last couple of years now so this might just be Fender jumping on a trend like they did with Jazzmaster shaped Telecasters.
Got to echo the thoughts above, medium or short scale would be tempting. I've been after a 32" scale bass.. It looks active, which is intriguing. I'd be happy as long as there is a passive option. A series/singlecoil/parallel option for each pickup would be wonderful, though.
I see a lot of "Is this Fender real or fake" threads around here. So, is this real or something someone put together, whether it was wishful thinking or just for a joke? Sorry, but I find it hard to believe Fender would reintroduce a failed/discontinued model as a bass, and even harder to believe they'd go with a color that I've heard nothing but disparaging remarks about.
The link is a normal Shopify product link, which will be the backend for CMEs Web store. A Player Meteora will go down well I think - they seem to be drip feeding the releases over the next few days so probably get official word soon.
If real, its basically a repackaged Dimension (Factory guy says to foreman and visiting middle management guy "Hey, I found a bunch of boxes with Dimension parts taking up space on the shelves. Should I throw them out?")
I love everything about it except the pickups. That is a hard shape to get replacements/upgrades for. I would have preferred an EMG shaped housing or something
