Before anyone jumps the gun... let's give the dude the benefit of the doubt. Say for instance, his mother is sick and in the hospital, or something, and he gets back to his computer after an exhausting 3 week ordeal and reads these threads. However, if the dude has been sitting around eating potato chips watching sponge-bob reruns for the last 3 weeks - then I say get the bars of soap and pillowcases. Let's at least wait to see if we can contact the guy before we start flaming. I'll try and dig up his phone number tonight - anyone have a good long distance plan or at least live in FL?

According to this post, he was let go from his job back in mid October, and he subsequently sold all his gear. I'm sure that he's in a bit of a pinch, and dealing with shipping the bass may be low on his priorities at this time. Not making excuses, just FYI.

If he needs the help on shipping charges, I will help out if it gets the Beast back into circulation. If he is just being a pinhead, I won't help. But I agree with CoffeeSipper, give him a chance. If he is indeed in financial straits, I've been there, done that, it ain't fun. If you can find his number, I'll call him on my cell, I have a decent plan. If his number is disconnected, it doesn't necessarily mean he's skipped town either. I was joking with the Vito comment (kinda). Actually it's not Vito, it's Big Ron he should be looking out for...

Heaven help us if he was in an accident. He would have returned home to the Wish being his only bass since he sold all his other gear. Can you imagine the sheer terror of thinking "I used to play this POS????"

He hasn't posted, but according to his profile, he was on Talkbass yesterday. So that means he still has access to a PC, and therefore, his email. Any reply from him yet?
No response. I even offered him a way out if it was financially constraining for him to ship it, and nothing. I think he's keeping it. I understand hard times as well as anyone, but this is going beyond "benefit-of-doubt" and getting into thievery. Bad juju, I'm afraid. Anyone live near enough to him to go have a talk with the lad?

A dogpile is a bunch of people jumping on, and beating up, the target. Can be vicious. See also "All Tackle One"...
Is there anyone on the list who would be willing to press charges? I realize that the charges should be filed in FL, but I'm wondering about a mail fraud charge, that's a federal one, is it not? Filing fees in court wouldn't be all that much, the lawyer might be a buck or two, but if successful, would provide a clear and powerful message.
Just an idea, my brother-in-law in Ga is a lawyer, although he is a corporate guy. I could run it past him to see if it has any merit.

How much did the bass cost originally? The legal thing may cost alot more than it is worth. It is really sad that it has come to this.

Filing a complaint though shouldn't cost anything... it is theft really if you look at it a demo not returned.. Might not do a hell of a lot, but it might get the instrument back in circulation! It really isn't the cost, but the principal IMHO...
