Lets Buy A Wish Part II

Wow. What a weird thing about wish-buyin' operations, eh?

I'm going to come out and say that I, for one, refuse to think that AJ is holding out on us on purpose. I bought my iAmp from him in his laid-off sale and he seems like a fine member of the TB community.

YES, it's his responsibility to get the Wish moving after his time with it, and those in waiting have a right to be angry, but I can't possibly think he's gone and stolen it.

He posted his review and soundclips soon enough that his intention was obviously to keep the chain moving, but I know first-hand how days and weeks can go by with that one to-do slipping by undone ("ship wishbass out today")...

At the very least, we should hear what he has to say, anyone maybe try to get him on the phone since he's not posted here?

He hasn't posted, but according to his profile, he was on Talkbass yesterday. So that means he still has access to a PC, and therefore, his email. Any reply from him yet?

He visited the board on the 23rd of November (6 days ago.) Why wouldn't he reply? All he would have to do is tell someone he has hit hard times, etc. Assistance was offered in order to get the bass back, but no response was given.

Filing a complaint though shouldn't cost anything... it is theft really if you look at it a demo not returned.. Might not do a hell of a lot, but it might get the instrument back in circulation! It really isn't the cost, but the principal IMHO...

Exactly my point! It is the principle! IMHO, AJ is being a pinhead, and must have something to hide, or he would have accepted my offer to help pay the shipping cost to help him out of a jam- AT THE VERY LEAST HE SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED!!! He is being very irresponsible, I wonder if that has anything to do with his becoming unemployed???

Edit- I wonder if he sold it, or pawned it and can't get it out?

Sheesh - I can tell you that! I was lucky to get hold of a three month extension on my expired car plates.. wasn't it just last week? Well I just happened to look down while walking past the car yesterday, and NOOOOO! It was two-and-three-quarters months ago, dang-it! What happened? Now I'm in trouble; I haven't got the work on it done so it'll pass an emmisions test yet.

...Must be all this bass practice that's throwing me off!

You can't pawn a Wishy!:D

I just got finished reading the 30 pages of wacky hi-jinks from the last make a wish thread.

Although I did not contribute any money for this bass or the last bass and have no interest in the wish bass based on the reviews from the last thread I have to admit this is way better than any TV.

It's like deja-vu all over again.

I don't personally know this "AJ" cat, but if he sold all his gear a couple weeks ago, I'm willing to bet he sold the Wish too. A pawn shop would eat that thing up because it looks a lot more than it's worth. And as "Lowrez" put it "It really isn't the cost, but the principle".

If this guy has got money problems, why would he chip in $10 in the first place? I'm suprised people are actually defending a thief?

I guess that's what I get for thinking the interent wasn't just full of thieves and cheats. Fore shame! :scowl:

I need to go for a walk and calm down. I've been screwed out of $415 online once before. I know $10 isn't nearly as much, but it's the principle. I thought bassist were more of a family?

Oh, I'd be the first one to start an apology thread, if warranted. I'd also hold up my end of the bargain and pay for shipping if he were to communicate that help was needed. If, by the end of the week, nothing happens- he does not respond- I will have no choice but to file on him. I'm a very fair guy, but I don't like being taken advantage of. I will go out of my way to help people as long as I'm not being played. I think we're being played here, though.

I think we'd all like to play the bass and at least get out $10 worth.

I got to play it before it went MIA. Given that experience, if I was further down the list I'd give an extra $10 to be skipped over and not be subjected to the Wishbass experience.

:hiding:

Seriously, it does seem pretty lame that each of the two basses have gone MIA like this. Didn't coffes-sipper have names, addresses, and phone numbers for each person on the list? Surely someone can call the dude instead of venting here for weeks about it.

This is the letter I sent to Mr. A.J. Guerra.

Mr. Guerra-
Would you please contact someone regarding the Wish bass, it has been in your possesion far too long. I have even personally offered to help pay shipping if needed, and still no response. If you don't either post a reply in the Wish thread, or contact me directly, we will have no choice but to seek legal counsel regarding this matter. You may call me directly at xxx-xxx-xxxx, 8am-8pm CST, or email me directly at [email protected], or PM me here at TalkBass. Since this bass has crossed state lines and is owned by a group of people, it has gone from a state matter to a Federal one. By your lack of response, we are taking it to mean that you have either disposed of our property, or have decided unilaterally that it is your property. In this case, that could be construed as theft. Please make things right and either send it on to the next person on the list, or reply to one of my several messages that I have left you for some help in shipping, or otherwise state your intentions.
Regards,
Eric Irvine

Think it'll work?

It worked. I've made contact with AJ, and am working on getting it back into circulation. I hereby retract my statements that he might be construed as a thief. He's not, he's just been "economically challenged". I'm going to pick up the tab on shipping it out to me, even though there are four others in TX, they're all in the Dallas area, and since I'm getting it shipped, it comes here next. Sorry Juneau, et al...it'll get to you guys soon.

Glad to hear it! Hey Bassic83, any chance of you still flying up to D-town for a visit? I'd still like to get together with ya, and any of the other Dallas fellas if your able too. Otherwise, just keep me posted and I'll give you a work address to ship it to next so it doesnt get left on a doorstep or anything at my house :)

And I dont think I made any comments about theivery or anything, but if I did I appologize as well hehe. I was intent on trying to get it, but I did my best not to assume anything hehe.
