Lets Buy A Wish Part II

Not yet- I sent him money, looking like I'm out. I'm trying to get with my brother-in-law who is an attorney to have him served. I've also sent him a strongly worded email or two, but no reply. I have a rather large friend in FL who might be able to go pay the boy a visit, and hopefully get the bass and my money back. It's been twelve days since the last contact. I hate to have to take him to small claims, because I know he doesn't have anything for me to get, and I'd have to appear in order to file, and again on the trial date, so there's several hundred in airfares right there. But, if necessary to make things right, I'll go get a judgement against him, and sick my lawyer on him. He likes stuff like this. You'd think that someone you never even met helping you out of a jam, you'd do the right thing. I've lost a lot of faith in the younger generation- not just from this incident, but from several. It just doesn't pay to help people out any more. They're all take and no give. The "ME!" generation... :scowl: If it shows up in the next day or three...even by the new year, I'll be amazed. Here I go again, taking it in the shorts for the team!

Well, I'd like to just say a big TKS to you Basic, for sticking with it. I'll tell you that I'm still dying to try out a Wish, but bassed on now 2 'Shared' basses going AWOL I have little hope of getting the opportunity, and in the end I'm not sure that the instrument in question warrants the measures you're willing to take. At the same time, if I were in your shoes and had the means I'm sure I would do the same thing, just to set things right.

Well to wrap up this sentement, I'm sure all of us with a little invested appreciate your efforts, but don't feel obligated to push any further than you want to. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and move on, as frustrating and unfair as that sounds. But if you so desire, Sick'em!!!!

Basssic83, I've been following the thread and have no financial interest in the bass but just so I'm clear on what's going on you mean not only did this guy stiff everyone out of a bass he stiffed you out of shipping costs too?

I thought you were being very generous by helping everyone out to keep the bass moving and also to help this guy save face.

I hope I am being totally presumptious in which case I would be more than happy to apologize but Bassdmb18 What a lousy thing to do! What's the deal? I would assume this isn't the only scam Bassdmb18 is running if he's that desperate to take shipping costs.

Bassic, I'd stick it to him with all you got.

Embellisher is ther anyway to tell if he's been on the site recently. I'd say let's send mass e-mails to him about his Grinch like behavior.

Maybe there should not be anymore Let's buy a Wish threads. I am not a part of it, but I hate to see this stuff happen. I hope your large friend finds him and messes him up, really bad.
I feel the same. I don't think there'll be anymore of those organizations, sadly, since two out of two got wrecked.

Let's give the Buy-a-Wish hi-jackers a big ol' :hmm: ...

AJ was 4th on the list. Sipper, sb69coupe and myself had turns before it went to AJ.

This totally sucks. You guys might get somewhere by pressing the interstate commerce / mail fraud issue and/or contacting the police in this guys town.

I lent a guy a bass some 12 years ago for a gig he did in NYC and he pulled a runner on me, taking it on tour with his youth orchestra cross country. The worst thing was that I borrowed it on his behalf from my school. Long story short, my teacher got the FBI involved (transporting stolen goods across state lines) and that worked like a charm-- the little piss ant returned the bass to me the next day. I say lean on this jagoff however you can. He's obviously not too bright-- I mean how far can $200 get you? Certainly not far enough that it's worth breaking the law.
