Lets Buy A Wish Part II

But building 500 basses doesn't mean a thing if every bass is really no better than the last one and is not even on par quality with $200 basses in a store. If you've built 500 basses and you still can't level a fingerboard properly, route pickups without making a mess, and put neck position markers in the correct spots cleanly, and evenly, something is wrong.

Now, I don't build basses, and I would love to but I don't really have the room to do all aspects myself (neck construction and body shapes really..no room for the equipment). But I know if I did, I'd know enough to measure, double check my work, look at other basses for guidance if something doesn't look right, and plain out not even sell the thing unless I knew that it was atleast considered pretty good, as opposed to something downright poor that could be outdone by a kid in woodshop.

It sounds to me like you're a guy who never got $10 from their parents, that's why you're mad :)

LOL.... you folks aren'r bass players, you fools

I've got an idea. Why don't we get Wish to design a bass and have one of our aspiring TB Luthiers actually build it? I would gladly contribute $20 for materials to see one of Wish's brain nuggets flawlessly crafted into a bass we could take a bit more seriously. It could be passes around for some reviews and sold on E-bay with procedes going back to TB...

As an apiring luthier, I fully support this. It'd be incredible for whoever you choose and hopefully for everyone else assuming you trust the person with your $10 and they can get it done in a reasonable ammount of time. I'm a little unclear on the whole process now and don't have time to read 30 pages, but what happens when the thing is done making its rounds? In this case, It'd be nice to let whoever made it keep it, and there wouldn't be any need to decide on who gets it that way.

Plus who cares what a kid who has to ask his parents for $10 thinks.

I'd pay Embellisher $10 to e-mail me the original post he edited... :D

As I've said before, I'm REALY busy with work right now so I haven't had a whole lot of time to fiddle with the Wish and give it a fair shake, I'm reserving ANY coments untill I can get it all in one shot. I haven't heard any reaction to my request to keep it a bit longer. I'd like to keep it through next weekend unless someone really wants me to get it moving. I can assure everyone that it will be back in motion by Monday or Tuesday of the following week (the 11th or 12th.) If anyone has a problem with that PLEASE speak up and I will honor my 1 week agreement.

You know, I was at this very nice party once when everyone was standing around talking and gnoshing on appetizers when one of the guests had a little too much and became belligerent and although folks tried to settle him down he just kept at it and at it as if all he really wanted was to have a fight with someone until finally we had to throw him out and then it was all nice again.

I have found three posts of this thread that I did not write. How can someone use my name and post without my password? I have said some positive things about Steve who builds the Wishbass. Now someone has decided to use my name, and in one case post in giant red letters. I am a fan of the wishbass. That should not result in being imitated and insulted. I've met Steve, I own one of his basses, I enjoy playing it and it was very inexpensive... that's it. If one of the moderators did this, than Talkbass.com should toss them. Who else but a mod could do this.

You apparently posted something innappropriate, so a mod removed it.

Well I know some of us are both, but I can't speak for everyone :) And if you can't say anything nice besides an insult, don't say anything at all.

Hmmm, Well aparently TB was hacked recently by some fishing site or something so it's possible our account info has been compromized. However it seems strange that they would happen to pick a person who knows Mr. Wish and happily owns one of his basses to post whatever inappropriate thing was posted that Embellisher felt was necessary to edit. If you didn't post that then I would certainly have a PM with Paul or one of the Mods about tracking your account usage. If you did let your emotions run a bit wild, it's no big thing. I'm sure it's happened at one point and time to most of us.
;)

You broke two forum rules. You called a member a name, which is disrespectful. And you posted unmasked profanity, using a space in the middle of the word to keep the profanity filter from blocking it out.

I suggest you read the forum rules, and abide by them. Which brings me to another rule you are breaking. You are questioning a Moderator's action in public. If you have a problem with a Moderator, take it to Private Message or email. If you don't feel you have been treated fairly, email the site administrator, whose member name is Paul.

Here are the rules. Read them and abide by them, or you will be banned.

Thank you. Have a good day.:)

OK, I've had the wish for well over my alloted time now and I think I'm finally ready to send it on it's way. Looks like the next person on the list is Fret-less Six (James) so if everything is still on track I'll be getting it off to you most likely on Wednesday. I'll PM you with a tracking # when I have it. I actually have a LOT to say about this instrument on both ends of the spectrum, but I've been too busy to sit down and put it all down. I will be putting it all down into one post in the very near future, but for now I'll just say that Wish has definitley onto something here. There are a lot of very positive things about this bass. That said, IMO there are some VERY BASIC shortcomings that could quite easily be taken care of with very little extra time or money involved.

Thanks to everyone for not jumping on my case as I went over my time.

I'm the next stop! Can't wait!

Oh, and on that note, jmb7183, you can check it out on Trevorus' time, it's his bass for a week, no need to pitch in unless you want. PM coffee-sipper who arranged this if you want to get a week of your own for a fee perhaps.

OK James, It's on it's way, i just checked the UPS web site and ran the tracking # on the shipping form but it didn't show up. I'm not sure if it was given a different shipping # somewhere allong the way or if it just hasn't hit their system yet, but it was dropped off today around 4:00pm and send 2nd day air, so you should get it on Friday.
