EVERYONE I showed it to right off the bat said something to the effect of "WOW", "COOL", or such. It's only on closer inspection that the shortcomings become apparent, and even then most others didn't change their opinions.
Has anyone bought a Wish that they've totally fixed up? Like asked for no neck markers (seeing as he doesn't do these correctly), and maybe changed out the pickups and what not?

I ditched the corian bridge and replaced it with 4 bridge pieces out of an Indi bridge system ($15)...no drilling required as I am still using the same string-through holes and not the slides that came with the bridge system...now each string is individually adjustable for both height and intonation...
I added a thumbguard ($8) and will eventually change that ugly knob to a chrome dome....
that ugly aluminium cover plate is on the back of mine and the figured maple body is really quite attractive IMTO (in my twisted opinion)
Other than that, she's stock...and I like it...
i ordered my electric with no fret markers. it should be finished within a month, he wrote me a few days ago saying he had started it.

Hey guys!!! Sorry I haven't said anything about the wish in awhile, I had a bit of a family emergency in Florida that I had to attend to this week...anyway I've had the wish for a little over a week and here are some of my thoughts...
1. Playability- Im sorry to all the people who have wish basses and love them but honestly folks this is not my cup of tea. The action is reallllll high and it seems like that deep cut away has no real function. Above the 20th fret the notes start to cut out. The neck is also stoopidly thick, some people may like that, I however am not a fan. I dunno it just feels too slow for me. So out of 10, I give it a 4
2. Fit & Finish- It's not finished. Gluespots everywhere, no truss rod, markers aren't in the right place, and the intonation is off (what more could a bassist need!!!
). Even though the bass only costs 300 I still expect at least some degree of craftsmanship. You can buy some Rogues that are finished off better than this bass Out of 10, I give it a 2
3. Sound- This is probably the Wish's saving grace right here. This bass really gives a good round, warm tone. Its very uprightish (Im not sure if thats a word...well it is now.) I think someone said that these Wish's are basically EUB's in a horizontal format, I somewhat agree with that statement. I have to say I enjoy listening to it (Playing it is another matter all together)
Out of 10, I give it a 7
4. Overall- So how did I enjoy my time with the wish? To be honest I really didn't use it all that much, I love my basses to death and really have no need for a bass like this. My fretless Carvin does a very good impression of an upright should the need arise. I did bring this bass to a couple of practices with a band and the members thought it looked cool from far away, then when they got up to it they saw the whole story. My drummer enjoyed the sound I got out of it, but that was about it. IMO if you need a good bass for 300 look elsewhere! These basses are either love it or hate it, Im not a fan.

Hey guys, took delivery of the Wish today, and at first glance, not impressed. Doing some extensive research in the next couple of days before moving on. At this rate, I don't think it'll live out it's week with me...
Well, it's here, came, and is about to go, here are my impressions:
Build quality: far below stellar. Actually, barely acceptable IMO. Glue joints weren't tight, gaps were here and there. Neck wasn't shaped consistently, nails used as position markers. Sloppy workmanship, the pickup route was routed sloppily over a J-pickup route, meaning he modified a previously made bass. Not too thrilled about paying full price for a modified Wish.
Playability: barely. The action was high, impossible to set with the corian bridge, and frankly, there was no place to put my thumb. BIG PROBLEM. The pickup was recessed too far into the body and was almost flush with the top. Fingerboard barely hefty enough to get a grip on so I tended to float. Didn't make me happy.
Electronic cavity: hardwired with solid copper wire, used hole saw for cavity, and aluminum plate. The output was too close to the volume knob making it impossible to get a good feel for where you were and wanted to go.
Sound: much better than expected. Had a woody tone, no hum, now if I could only play in tune, it would be alright.
Overall: 3/10. I think I could easilly do better.
I think this summer is the Tim Lyons "Beat the Wish" challenge.
