I actually liked it too, albiet, I liked it for the price I paid for it. If it were something I made myself I would see it as a fun thing to noodle with, but I would want to be able to do better, but that's just me.

I've still got a biga$$ review with loads of pics on the way, but work still has my computer time tied up, and the weather is nicer now, so I'm not inclined to spend any more hours in front of the screen than I already am.

I'd be interested in getting together a second round of victims...er...testers. Anyone wanting to participate in Round 2 of Wish II, PM me. I'll compile a list of who wants in. If it reaches 10 people, I'll be surprised, but not shocked. Nothing shocks me anymore. Except maybe when I insert bobby pins in my electrical outlets... ;) :D
If it's only a couple people, cool. If it goes over ten, maybe a new thread is in order? Let me know, people...

I have another idea- when it finally gets done with it's long journey, let's have a Modify The Wish thread- everyone who wants to try to make it acceptable can donate either parts, labor, or both, towards making it a decently playable instrument. Like, f'rinstance, a real bridge! That one feature alone could help tremendously with the playability factor. Another feature would be to sand it down completely and refinish it. Electronics upgrades, a grounded jack, replacing the "fret markers" with GPS, that sort of thing...we could have a weekly feature with pics and all, kind of a round-robin "Pimp My Wish"...

this is similiar to the suggestion i made about 300 posts ago ;)

ibut , i was hoping that we could get an aspiring new luthier (or a bored established luthier) to have a go at the wish, and then resubmit it through the reviewers to see the improvements.

Sounds like a GREAT idea, anyone willing to try to remove the fretboard and install a truss rod and non-pitted board has my vote for first crack at it.

I agree. If somebody like Hambone could tackle it, we might wind up with a pretty playable bass.

I also vote that if the Wish is modded, that it go back to the original participants in this thread first, so we can evaluate it after the mods. Then let any new people have a shot at it, as long as they understand that it has been modified to make it a better instrument than it originally was.

I agree with the idea of upgrading it and maybe turning it into a playable instrument. I still have the whishbass and it will depart to Raleigh, NC tomorrow. After getting over the first shock if this bass and playing (or rather trying to play it) more I still hold the same oppinion that I posted in my review. Well, I'll post the tracking number tomorrow whenever I get back from work. I'll ship UPS ground, so it should reach coffee-sipper within a week.

since he hasnt posted in a while, i wonder if he is still monitoring this thread. wouldnt that be a shock...a wish showing up unannounced :eek: (especially if he just ordered a fodera off of ebay. HAH!)

He might not know anything about the Wish making it all the way to the end. That WOULD be a shock, to open a bass carton expecting a Fodera, and pulling out a Wish...LMAO...I'd almost pay money to see that!!! What would be even funnier would be to have the Wish "electronically fortified with three essential frequencies and minerals" and have it sound like a high-end bass! And once refinished, except for that goofy headstock, maybe even start to LOOK a little top-endy...it was pretty nice wood, though not exotic by any stretch of the imagination. A little trim here, nip and tuck there, a good shave, and we might have a Wish that's worth $200...OK, maybe more if you part it out... :D :D ;) (don't anybody go getting any brilliant ideas about making it "invisible" again... :scowl: )

Get a Fodera box and ship the wish in that.

Hey!!! I want a chance to play...er...um...TRY to play this bass. I didn't get in on the original list but I'll gladly throw some cash at coffee-sipper if need be.

If nothing else, I want to satisfy my curiosity about a wish bass. I almost bought one a couple years ago off the bay, but didn't for some reason or another.

So yea...can I try it?
