You're a little late to the I hate the Alleva Coppolo head stock
party. It's been done before.:) If you ever play one
you might forget how MUCH you hate the head stock. :smug:

Trust me, headstocks ain't so important, and I know they sound bloody awesome, and I would buy one, were I in the need/want for a modern jazz, but still, it ain't a nice headstock.

I don't like the headstocks on some basses I already own, as I said, headstocks ain't so important.

Yep, this type of thread has been done before. To my eye, most Fender copy headstocks (other than exact copies) are ugly and an embarrassment to their designers, including all the trendy favorites around this forum. What really torques me are those bar type string retainers on 5 and 6 string copies...or any string retainer, for that matter. When I'm paying several thousand dollars for a boutique J or P, you as an instrument builder better angle the headstock. Otherwise, I take my business elsewhere. :(

Oh,I concur!!I probably would forget all about the h-stock!!As I said,I probably wouldn't let it affect my decision if I was in the market for a "super-jazz."

But,maybe I'd wear some of those horse-blinder "thingies,"so my peripheral vision won't be workin.'

NO!!I am not saying someone's bass is ugly....In fact,I'm jealous of all the AC owners.

The head stock actually looks better in person than in pics.
I don't think you would need blinders. :)

But, you could always modify the head stock if you didn't
like it.;):D:D:D

I used to not like them so much either, until I played it. Then I forgot all about it. Plus, it really did kind of grow on me, and if you see a shot of yourself playing one onstage you notice that the headstock isn't that big of an eyesore.

In fact, the two headstocks that were on the bottom of my "aesthetically pleasing" list are now at the top...AC and Skjold. Love the basses, love the headstocks, love the builders.
