Let's see those Work Horse Basses!

Here is my 1984 / 85 Squier P bass at last week's gig.

I just took the 2nd pic yesterday to share w/ the friend who helped me refinish it close to 15 years ago.
Of all the basses I’ve bought since, I always come back to this one - just feels & sounds like home, like a bass should sound to me.
By now it has literally thousands of shows and she’s holding up quite well, except for some serious buckle wear on the back. But, it’s all scars that I’ve put there thru use, not abuse, so I’m ok with them!

Hi Dave! In 2 weeks, I'm buying the BTB NTF 5-string version of this bass, my first 5-string bass. Are there any sound settings and maintenance tips you can suggest? I can't wait to receive mine!
Hi! It's a great bass, balances nicely on the strap, not too heavy on the shoulder...I usually run both pickups balanced, with a little bass boost, and mids and highs flat. Gives a good basic sound that works with pick, fingers, or slap. I really like the sound with the bridge pickup soloed, leave the bass in the same position, turn the mids up full, and turn the highs all the way down....gives it something close to a fretless growl and works great for ballad-y, slower songs.
As far as maintenance, it's very stable..I've had mine 2 years and only had to make a couple of very small bridge and truss rod adjustments. It doesn't show fingerprints or dust at all...maybe if you sweat a lot when you play it might, but I haven't had any issues with it at all.

I LIKE this one! The body detail and the reverse slant on the pickups, and those individual saddles, who makes those, or are they Dingwall custom pieces?
My dingwall (the blue one) is the ng2 it’s part of their import combustion series. Those basses are built in China in the same factory fender uses then they ship them to Dingwall HQ in Canada where they fine tune everything including the fretwork, nut, and setup. It’s actually cheaper than a new Mia stingray with a similar vibe and a better low B. Fantastic bass and it’s not insanely expensive. Comes stock with the Darkglass tone capsule 3 band. Pretty sure they get their hardware from hipshot for the 2017 and newer models.
