Let's spread some musical misinformation

The truss rod was invented by a guy named Rod. As it appeared to be a very reliable means of keeping the neck of a bass in shape, people called it the 'trust rod device'.

I thought it was because Rod was also a part time model for medical catalogues and was reknown for modeling hernia trusses. He was forced into this line of work because he couldn't make a living just selling guitar parts so he was known as Truss Rod to his friends and family.

That's all part of the myth. They say he also was involved in plastic surgery, producing hot legs. But that's off topic. :D

Gene Simmons was a lumber jack before he picked up the bass.

Along those lines...

If you're left-handed and play a flipped-over right-hand bass (or right-handed and play a flipped lefty), you should also flip your amp head over to correct the phase variance. Otherwise, your music will come out backwards (this is how that fakey group previously mentioned, The Beatles, did their backwards recordings...Paul had a flipped righty Ric. He tried it with the Hofner, but its symmetrical shape cancelled the effect).
