The first time anyone ever heard the phrase "my tone" from a bass player was in 1972 when Ampeg put a mid range selector on it's SVT bass amp.
Prior to that, with just bass and tone knobs everyone's tone was the same. Curse you Ampeg for starting the never ending "my tone" journey we spend years to perfect.
