Let's spread some musical misinformation

The P-Bass is named P because it was Leo's 16th design attempt. The 15 designs (A-Bass through O-Bass) that came before the P didn't make it for various reasons. It was only later that Leo realized that the 10th design, the J-Bass, could become a bestseller too. Later those basses were called Precision and Jazz.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought P was for prototype and J was for adJusted prototype. PJ meaning that the "Proper Jig" was used in making the body.

Fender has decided to stop making basses for ten years in order for people to free themselves from the dark cloud of everything Fender hanging over them.

Fender spokespeople said they feared they were holding mankind back and that some musicians actually had a phobia that that they were traveling backwards in time.

And the 10 years that they have decided not to manufacture are 1962-1978. All basses made from 1962-1978 are being recalled for destruction. Original owners with a valid receipt will be compensated with the full amount paid including taxes as reported on the receipt.

Note that Fender changed to metric time in 1980, thus the decade being 1962-1978.

Kenny G owned the G bass prototype, but he gave it to Warren G as a gift when they performed together.
