Let's spread some musical misinformation

Never remove the plastic film on pickguards or pickups!
This exposes these parts to moisture and will kill your tone, mess with your setup, flatten your rounds, and cause untreated solid waste to strike rotary air circulatory devices*!

*(Said devices need not be anywhere near the bass...)
Also always store the bass in its original carton. The manufacturer knows best how to keep your instrument in top condition.

What if I bought it used and the original owner refuses to give up the original carton?
Always check before buying. No carton, no pay! Also insist on getting the original manual. Otherwise you won't be able to use the instrument for the full 100%. Special features will be concealed forever. Useful information about setup and tuning will be lost...

The only way to distinguish real swamp ash tone wood from ordinary ash is the faint smell of alligator urine released when the bare wood is scratched with a fingernail. A more sour pungent smell means a pregnant female alligator urinated near the tree before harvesting the wood which accentuates mids in the 375 - 415 hertz region. Jaco preferred basses made from this wood.

Jaco took his first bass lesson from Stephen Hawking on a straight necked Jazz bass only to be startled when the frets started popping out and disappearing into a worm hole only to emerge 51 years later on a P bass in pawn shop in Bangalore India. Subsequently Jaco momentarily popped out of the worm hole in Bangalore to perform a vegetarian version of "The Chicken."

Heavy strings, if strummed send little disturbances through spacetime that go on till the end of time (provided they aren't sucked up by a black hole). On their way they interfere with disturbances from guitar, drums and vocals, making aliens think we are aliens.

This is how the music is provided in the restaurant at the end of the universe.

The colour of a bass affects the tone--natural & sunburst finishes sound the worst.
However the effect of color can be effectively muted.
