Let's spread some musical misinformation

Everybody knows, or should do, that GaliLEO and LEOnardo were best buds, and formed a partnership called G&L, making wooden helicopters and tanks. It was in their spare time, using a few cast off Bits and pieces in their workshop in Padova that they made the first Padova bass, later shortened to simply P bass.

Galileo is often remembered for formulating the theory that the Sun, and not the Earth was the centre of the solar system.
Obviously, when people laughed at him and the Inquisition threatened him, GaliLEO renounced his ideas, but they were later proved to be correct, therefore inspiring the expression...
"(Gali)Leo got it right first time!"

A while ago I wrote that the second trussrod of a Rickenbacker bass is a spare trussrod. I was wrong. The first trussrod appears to be the spare one.

Now I'm confused about which post is misinformation. Perhaps because both trussrods are spares as they are technically not necessary on Rickenbachers. In which case both posts are only half wrong.

I was also wrong about an eight string bass being a double four stringer, suitable for both left and right handed players. In fact seven strings can do the job, as the string in the middle doesn't have to be doubled.

I thought left handed 8 string basses only have 7 strings, but right handed ones do have 8 strings for the same reason that the circle of fifths is fifths in one direction and fourths in the other. Similarly, left-handed 5 string basses only have 4 strings.

Absolutely true! Which IS the reason for the two truss rods in the Ric! Every every other second string can be safely tuned up one octave while just the others can be tuned down one octave. This results in concavo-convex neck perfection that makes sax players better than Jaco the first time they pick up a bass.

Strong with the force is that bass player.
The force of the groove is with him.
