In 2010 an alien taught how to play the bass. ...a crappy alien.
You're right, but he initially called the band 'Alien Ant Fart'.yes - and I believe he started the band 'Alien Ant Farm'![]()
Poor Gibson. Back in 1961 they had a rough year. First Les Paul wrinkled his nose at the new guitar bearing his name, then the horrific misfortune regarding their answer to the introduction of the Fender Jazz Bass. They already had the EB-1 viola bass, the original slab bodied EB-0 (double cut Les Paul Junior style), the EB-2 based on the ES335 style, and plans to build the EB-3. With the Jazz Bass in mind, they set to work. As a marketing ploy, they bypassed several sequential numbers (EB-4 was thought to sound redundant as a four string, EB-5 sounded perfect as most fifths tend to, but not for a name, EB-6 could be confused for a tic tac six string bass, EB-7 sounded like a George Van Eps model, EB-8 could be mistaken for an eight string bass modelled after the twelve string guitar.) and agreed the model would be called the Eb9. The lower case B was due to a printing error in the initial catalog. This set production back into mid 1962. A bad omen, to be sure. The bass actually wasn't that bad an instrument. It was designed as most Gibson basses were at that time, almost as an afterthought using existing guitar parts. The Eb9 had several variations available. The standard model (Eb9), the double pickup model (Eb9+11), and the triple pickup top of the line (Eb9-13). All were constructed with a converted Custom 400 guitar body and mudbuckers with block inlays and bound necks. Upon learning that an employee found a stash of Charlie Christian pickups in a bin, they made a special run of the Eb9+13 CCCP which stood for Certified Charlie Christian Pickups. The jazz players of the era weren't really into electrics to begin with, especially ones almost as big as a DB. The combination of jazz chord names, the fact that dropped tunings wouldn't become fashionable for another half century, and the straw that broke the camel's back: the CCCP moniker was the same as the cyrillic alphabet's rendering of the USSR. Just what was needed to sell basses during the Cuban Missile Crisis. All existing instruments were destroyed along with as many catalogs they could recover.
Ive just been told by an insider that ALL Gibson guitars are to be recalled and then the wood pulverised to make toilet paper to help get through the panic buying that appears to be a world wide issue. A well placed insider was heard to say that at last they had found a suitable employment for their instruments.

If its as bad over in the US as it is here all bands with Doctor in the title have just been called up to work in the NHS. Can you imagine being taken into A&E to face __________ (put your favourite rock star here) AAAARGGHHH put me back in that ambulance and get me out of here...All bands with Doctor in the title must legally feature real doctors, such as Dr. Hook, Dr. Feelgood and Doctor and the Medics, with the two twins being nurses. The Saw Doctors were all surgeons specialising in amputations.

singing cowboys became popular back in the 1950s because of the movies but before cowboys started to sing, singing goat farmers were all the rage... today only a few singing goat farmers still perform. Fleetwood Mac opened for SINGING GOAT FARMERS AID in 2018
And make sure that you bring your effects in their original boxes. Reputable effects pedal makers always provide a box just for this reason.Bring your amp and effects to the studio and carefully note down settings for various songs beforehand. They will of course let you record it the way you planned it.
