Besides carving tuner gears, those blue men are awesome musicians. One of the guys in my band just told me that tuner gears for Fender basses are carved by hand out of pure unobtanium by big blue-skinned dudes in a factory in Encino.

the working title of the Rolling Stones song 'I can't get no Satisfaction' was originally 'I can't get no spam and Hash Browns' - after Keith woke up stoned and incredibly hungry
Although he didn't appreciate music during his 7 years of college, Jake 'Bluto' Blues did put together a great blues band after dropping out.

You can't get the old tin/lead solder anymore. And that is what makes old instruments sound so good. It is tone solder. If you have a solid body guitar or bass with multiple pieces of wood, you should definitely check what sort of glue is holding it together to ensure it is tone glue, otherwise your instrument will sound bad. The panda hide glue used in pre-CBS Fenders is no longer available. Ensure the pickup wiring is from lightweight swamp copper.
I agree. I get whiter every time I listen to them. I'm almost clear now. They also sing the whites very well.

This is also the case with amps. The epic sound of tube amps isn't the tubes, it's the solder! You can't get the old tin/lead solder anymore. And that is what makes old instruments sound so good. It is tone solder.

You are claiming that there is no such thing as tone solder!? THAT sir, is nonsense!

I wouldn't trust it. You really need to get NOS tin/lead solder for the best tone.My apologies. I was hoping to show that you can, in fact, get the old tin/lead solder anymore. To be sure, vintage soldering irons and guns are available too.

It's also important to get period-correct screwdrivers for removing access panels.

It's a well known tragedy that many historically important bass guitars suffer failed repairs due to the use of modern fastener removal and/or installation hardware and techniques. Don't even get me started on wire-cutters. And I'll ignore the government conspiracy theories about covert changes to capacitor values in the late 1950's for the moment.
