I heard the same procedure applies, when converting a bassist to a drummer.
well not the entire journey from banjo to bass is cruel. If you truly think about it, it's really enlightening and a service to the player.
(jokes aside, I've contemplated working some of their right hand technique into my bass playing)
not sure but it has a chupacabra leather strap with metal spikes.
Cardinal Karol Wojtyla was so much a fan of the Beatles that upon his election as Pope, he chose the papal name John Paul II in honour of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and 'the other two guys'.
and I always thought he was named after the legendary bass player for Led Zeppelin....
Who can forget the Pope's famous admonition: "Happiness is a warm gun", I mean "All you need is love".
John Paul Jones isn't his real name! He was named after Lennon, McCartney and Davy Jones from the Monkees, all of mostly equal stature as musicians, apart from Jones who was shorter. Davy Jones was short, I mean, not the bassist guy. Using Tork as the last name was rejected as in the UK it would be Torque, and that would have got too complex. And then with a last name like that people would have thought he was French, although to be fair in the late 1960s being French was actually cool, just not in rock music when the only famous French rocker was Belgian.

The Beatles were originally called The Beatless due to inferior drumming, and the loss of the last s was due to poor planning on a poster which left insufficient space for the full name. That was the first gig after the completion of Ringo's drumming course, and the gig was successful and the shortened name stuck.
The (English) Beat was originally formed by McCartney, Harrison and Starr in 1970, being less Beatles than the Beatles. After many subsequent personnel changes as ex-Beatles went on solo careers, it was mostly blokes from Birmingham playing ska, although Starr would occasionally deputise for the late Everett Morton until 1981, and more rarely for Saxa.
