In 50 years 'blues' will just be a name as no one will remember what the word means. It will render many songs baffling to future generation, and the name of the Dutch band 'Shocking Blue' even more so as the only colour left will be grey. To be fair, blue was actually only invented in 1937 by Disney, as evidenced by all the movies prior to that. As can be seen in British movies in the 1950s, Britain was so poor after WW2 it still couldn't afford colour, and colour wasn't available in Yorkshire until 1968. They'll barely miss it there. It's why the blues revolution of the 1960s was such a late comer to Yorkshire as they didn't know what this mythical 'blue' was, and disbelieved tales of blue things and stones that rolled in London as tall tales brought on by taking 'LDS' as opposed to good, traditional things like Tetley's (tea and/or beer).
Of course, 1968, blue arrived and it was known as the "Summer of by 'eck". When women wore skirts so short you could see their ankles and men and women didn't always have a chaperone when stepping out.
That was the year that brought 'The Yorkshire Mick Jagger', Jake Thackeray to the fore.
