TalkBass Trade Gone Bad <---- straight up fraud and the member still participates in both the forum and classifieds. (EDIT: I see this user finally figured out they can change their name and did so to cover their tracks.)

Do you remember @iualum ? He was a fairly regular poster. I'm sure he still posts here but just with a new handle. He burnt somebody in the classifieds too. At least he didn't try to come back and act like nothing was wrong. Additionally, his case as not a high profile one like the one linked above.

Don't get me wrong, I like having some kind of feedback system I just wouldn't put much stock into it.

No system is perfect, but having a history on the other party at least helps point you in the right direction, in the majority of cases.

I only have one transaction in the classifieds, and the seller was good enough to trust me without any feedback. I proclaim to be a serious buyer, although sometimes not all transactions go through (due to circumstances like import issues etc.), but I completely understand when people don't want to perform the transaction based on lack of history. At least searching posts by the user gives you a better feel than nothing.

Stop keeping score and give everyone a trophy??
I like giving this trophy for a good zombie thread revival.

With over 200 transactions here, I completely disagree with this statement.

As the person in charge of the Classifieds and as a person who's banned innumerable spam accounts that sign up to try to rip people off through the Classifieds, I can tell you it's nowhere near true.

I just checked my post-per-like ratio.

974 likes/439 posts=2.218678815489749 likes per posts.

Most of my posts are smart-aleck comments of little value (other than entertainment).

So many other members posts are much more useful, and helpful to others than mine that I don't consider it an achievement.
Yep!.....Maybe we should start a club ;):D

I like to think my like-to-post ratio means my contributions are meaningful and my presence is appreciated, and I tell myself it does, but if you broke it down to the actual sources I think it has more to do with one time I said cellos were cool and the entire forum apparently agreed.

But I'mma keep telling myself it's because people like me.

I wasn't playing bass for at least three months & at the time had no inclination to take it up again...
Everyone here seemed fine with that, but the folks on the guitars forums (yeah, I also sold my guitar) were having none of it & conspired against me, by reporting everything I did.

Interesting because I find guitar forums tend to be more laid back and don't really care if you read music or not.
