Line 6 HX Effects

Special thanks to @Chace90 for sharing settings to help me get started with MIDI on the HXFX. I've got a patch up and running to control my Future Impact... When recalled, it turns on the FI and switches to my most used sound, and the top three footswitches send commands for specific FI sounds. Switching back to my main HXFX patch automatically turns the Impact off. Pretty slick.

Main signal chain: Future Impact > Symmetry > HXFX > Qstrip
HXFX Loop 1: Octabvre
HXFX Loop 2: Changes based on mood/need, currently the Bass Envelope Phaser
Dunlop DVP4 programmed as HXFX expression controller

Did you ditch the stomp or is it just for home use?

I have a stomp coming on the 27th, very excited to start experimenting. One thing I want to try is thickening up the sound for a song where we only have one guitar playing (second guitarist puts it down to sing). Basically I’m playing driving roots, and I’d like to add an octave up, and a 12th if possible. I guess that’s similar to what the Royal Blood bassist does. Any suggestions for how to achieve that?

Here’s the song. During the verses, the guitarist is doubling with me, but for the choruses he takes he higher part. Ideally I’d like to not be hitting switches back and forth, but I guess I have to see what it sounds like.

No way man, definitely didn't ditch the Stomp, and it's not just for home use! Just focusing on the MIDI control in the HXFX at the moment. The FI is a bit cumbersome to control on it's own and the HXFX has the ability, so it's super cool to finally get the two working together.

The Stomp is killer for rehearsals and gigs where I don't need the full board (a.k.a my Future Impact)... It's actually seen an equal number of gigs as my HXFX board since I got it, including a tv gig where I used it to double with my electric upright. (Airs on Christmas Day!)

I'm trying to fit the DC-3g under my pedal train metro and can only do so without the UK or Euro adaptors as they make it too wide. Does the US flat 2 pin fit into a US computer cable (NEMA 5-15R)? I was going to use a cable splitter to go to my Truetone CS6 & the DC-3G and as I can't find anyone selling the Truetone ACY-US in the UK I need to convert one end from the UK computer/kettle lead (C13). I was about to order one but thought I'd check it was the right connector first. It's either that or a current doubler from the two 500mA outputs on the CS6 but the DC-3G may be the best solution as I've read it's just under the current required.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

A while back I shared a patch for this:
Line 6 HX Effects

If you don't have an octave pedal just use one of the pitch effects instead of the fx loop. If you don't have IRs just download the free Allure pack from the Line6 website.

I have told whoever will listen, my guitarist just got an HX FX, and he has the same response.

“I am stunned, literally stunned by the tones I’m getting out of this unit. The response is just fantastic. I think this might be a game changer for multi fx units”

I can’t wait to see what he brings to the next rehearsal, patch wise.

I literally use it for one song- Pony, by Ginuwine. It's not perfect, but close enough, and I've yet to find another pedal that does it better. I've not had an issue with it's volume, but, you could control it with the HX, so it seems. There are levels for both input and output.

I put that on there before I desoldered the pot from the board, allowing the other 2 signals to be louder, but left it there, cuz it's funny.

That would make more sense for a single patch of just FI sounds, if it had it's own loop. I may keep that in mind in the future!

I have a future impact patch that works good for pony it replaced my bsw

For anyone looking to power the HX with a power supply... I was able to run mine with a current doubling adapter from a Voodoo Lab 4x4, using 2 of the 400mA outputs (doubling to 800mA, at least). You could also use a Mondo or Pedal Power Digital.

Just to be on the safe side, and because I had open outlets, I am now using 3 current doubling adapters, 1 in the 2-400mA outlets, 1 in 2-100mA outlets, both of which go into the third, then a 2.1mm to 2.5mm cable, into the HX, giving it at least 1000mA (1A). Someone from the company Cioks measured the actual current draw and it was about 1.1A (1100mA) peak, although I had no issues with 800mA.

It's not uncommon for manufacturers to include or suggest power supplies that can produce far more current than a pedal will use. That's definitely the case here, withe the DC-3G putting out 3A (3,000mA), nearly triple the measured current draw.

This very well could work for you for forever with no issues. Some other people are having some success with these types of powering methods as well. I know me though, unless I'm only using the HX by itself, I won't power it with anything but the provided supply. I've tired using my CS7's to power it and it powers. But piratically shuts off on its own which tells me that's not good. Knowing the supplied power gives it it's own 3 amps is comforting. Kind of annoying? Yes! haha but a small price to pay IMO. But when I take the HX off my board and just use it I use a 1spot with the 2 adapters and it works great. It's just when its on a board sharing power with other pedals I haven't had luck so I stop taking those "risks" so to speak.

Hey guys, while I'm waiting for my HXFX I thought I'd ask a question. How many of you are using part of the HX through your effects loop? I have a GK 1001RB and i thought I should try routing the delay/verb stuff through the loop. does it need too? Thanks and I can't wait til it gets here!

You can do anything you want like that with the HX. That's what makes it so cool. Try it out. Let us know what you think of it when you had some time with it.
