Line 6 Relay G-50 Review/Question

I have a question about the G50's tuner output. Does it sound the same as the regular out? Meaning can you tell a difference if you are using both at the same time? I'm thinking about adding a wireless to my pedalboard and the G50 with it's two outputs just might come in handy for a routing idea I have in my head.

I posted in another thread in here yesterday where somebody recommended the Eneloops. However, I researched them and their specs are 2000 mAh. I suppose the only way to know for sure is to actually conduct a scientific test. But, in lieu of that, I'll take the Energizers that are speced 15% greater capacity.

I bought some new ones yesterday because I wanted to have more than 10 AA rechargeables. I have a lot of devices that use AAs. But, some of my Energizers are more than a year or two old and even my oldest ones that are only 2000 mAh will still run my G30 for more than 4 hours.

I've been using a G50 for a couple months and have zero problems. I did get a Shure WA304 cable after a couple weeks, but only because of problems being reported by others. To my ears the tuner out and regular sound exactly the same. I'm currently using them reversed because of my current cable arrangment.

One week with my relay g50 and I am impressed. No signal loss or interference. The stock cable has been working flawless. I might have to buy an adapter to make it a right angle or buy a right angle connector and solder it to not stress the cable that much.

You are going to want a spare cable anyway, so buy a new one with a right angle, and keep the stock cable for a backup

...have been keeping a regular instrument cable handy just in case.
+1

i plug the output from the receiver into the amp with my regular long guitar cable; if something goes south, i can quickly yank it out of the receiver and plug it into my instrument to keep going with minimal interruption.

I have had my G90 for a couple of months, and have had problems with lost signal. At first it was sporatic, so i blamed cables, basses etc. I bought 2 replacement cables, tried every other variable, and it is the wireless. This last Saturday i had a gig and the Line 6 just WOULD NOT work. it was losing the signal more than it was connecting. Time to send it back

Sounds like a defective unit.
Before these were out my guitarist and I were paid evaluators for the Relay30.
We couldn't get them to drop anywhere within the stated range, and actually found they performed well beyond their stated capabilities.

I picked up a G50 a few months ago, and I am really impressed with it. I directly A/B'ed it with my George L's cable and I couldn't hear a difference at all! I really like the all metal construction,a nd the small size of the receiver. I did buy a better cable for the transmitter, though, as the stock one is chintzy and way too short, not to mention I need an angled plug. In a couple of weeks, we're heading down to South America for a short tour, so I'll get to test it out in a live situation.

Cheers!

Just back from the South American tour, and the G50 performed FLAWLESSLY!! This thing is the real deal. I can't recommend it enough. Solidly built, it withstood a lot of banging around by yours truly, hehehe... I had no problems with range, the cable stayed firmly attached, and I played 3 gigs on one set of batteries, with plenty of life still left in them afterwards.

Two thumbs way up for this system.

Cheers!

I just ordered one and hope to be able to weigh in with a little feedback within the next week or two. Sure do love these compact receiver designs that allow high quality sound in a package that will fit into the same case as your ax.

I've been gigging with a G50 now for a few months, and I'm very happy with it. Works great, sound and range are both great, and battery life is much better than the XDR95 and XDS Plus units I had before it. I also bought the Shure right angle cable for mine, just because I always use right angle cables to plug into my basses.
