Live Bass - Use A Stage Amp With IEM?

Steve, in situations where FOH mixer and PA is provided, are you carrying a split snake or do you rely on the production guys to hand you a set of tails from their split?

I don't have a splitter, but I'm thinking about getting a 40-channel split w/ 12 returns. It would have a 20ft whip for my X32 and a 50ft whip to hand FOH.

We have not yet been at a provided PA that did not have a splitter on their snake, so it's not become an issue for us - yet! I keep "notes" on my phone for each venues mapping from their channels to ours.
I have read of folks using the X series that have a splitter built-in to their rack. They plug mics, etc. into their snake, the ends of which connect to the rack mixer.. the splitter goes into the SR providers snake.. so they simply map the splitter channels to the SR providers.

My 2 cents.

I play roughly 25% of my gigs with IEM and always bring an amp to the gig, mostly a smaller rig though.

I usually use Sure, Ultimate Ears, or Sennheiser IE that are around 100 bucks, so nothing super fancy.
Without amp, it simply feels castrated as there are almost no lows, the ones that you usually "feel" instead of "hear."
It certainly depends on the IEs you use. I was told that the super expensive systems (1500 - 2500) sound fantastic and definitely make an amp redundant.
However, with my budget IE (decent sound, not a lot of lows) I will keep on using a rig, even other guys in the band want me to bring a cab because it simply feels better on stage.
