Look at this P bass....

The cigarette burns look hooky and a bit over done.... They don't look natural... I have seen many real vintage instruments with burns and those look strange...
The decal shows no aging or scratches compared to the rest of the instrument ....

There is honest playwear, which is to be respected even on the worst junker. Then there is collectibility, which too often degenerates into mania/greed. With this bass we have jumped the shark all the way over into dealing in holy relics, like St. Brunhilde's meta-tarsil. Were it not for the big F on the headstock, this bass would not be worth one-tenth of the asking price.

I'm clearly in the minority here
a bass is just wood and metal and plastic and bone and steel and copper and yada yada. it can't have "mojo" if it doesn't get some kind of power. if you play it in a certain way: maybe it gets some power/mojo. but an abused instrument, or a knock off relic job isn't power: it's a trick = opposite of mojo. it's a substitute (intended for the gullible) for the real thing. if you want a bass to ever have mojo: you have to play it until it has real power! the effort may, or may not be, successful. the look of the thing has nothing to do with it.

It's a figure of speech. I thought it looked cool. I didn't say I would buy it, or if I played it I'd be imbued with magical powers. It just looks kinda neat. That's it.
