It's all about the attack with a picK... Maybe fingernails but it's hard to get that specific sound out of a pedal. You don't want to use a pick for a song or two?
Don't do it.
I was fine for over 10 years until this one day I saw a 3 piece band that my old band opened up for. Bassist was using a pick on a J bass into an old Peavey TNT combo amp, using no effects. It sounded so awesome and present I had to try it.
I have a lot of trouble putting the pick down now(I even got a plastic patch on my shoulder, but it doesn't help).
