Loud acoustic bass

Always wanted a Blue Dean ... but who lets those go now? The ones with Aphex anyway.
They pop up on Reverb from time to time, the dark blue ones, and I missed a natural ash model at Guitar Center last year...$300 if I remember correctly.
The black model is the one I seldom see.
Had a hard time finding mine...it was mere luck, of course, that I did.
(I only look for the ones with Aphex System electronics, but you're right, they sure aren't as numerous as they were a few years ago.)
Other than that, some people swear by Emerald.

I see where small practice amps are discussed just above in this thread ... so I have a quick amp question. I have an amazing cabinet. Two 12" Kappalites in a heavily braced ported cabinet with 1.5" walls of Baltic Birch. I even have 500 watts of amplifier to drive them. I want to simply play through my computer at home, and I need either an interface for USB and 1/4" in. For using Micd, and through the instruments electronics. So what mic?
And most importantly, I desperately want to have fun with modeling amp sounds. I figure the easiest way is just a download onto my computer. So what are the best downloads for modeling ? Free is NOT necessary.
Lastly ... I'm assuming download is easiest, but am open to an effects processor type modeler instead. Thank you.

I find this kind of funny ... The Ortega bass I ordered Yesterday comes from Germany, and it's tracking shows it is arriving to my house TOMORROW. Yet the other two basses I ordered from local music stores, has not even sent me info the products have been processed for shipping even, LOL. Go figure.

Like @jd56hawk said, they pop up from time to time. Got to be diligent in your search. :)
I found this 2013 Exotica Supreme when they really were supreme.
All Mahogany, Aphex, MOP inlays
They are out there. Look for the curved bridge. The Exotica Supreme never came with the curved bridge.
Aphex was installed on these staring in 2010.
2015 was last year.

I've wanted one of these for years. Actually saw one that must've hung in the window in sunlight for quite some time because it was more green than the others I'd seen.

Definitely hard to find one with the Aphex System sticker on it. This was on Reverb...as you can see it has the Aphex System sticker on it. Good thing I checked, because the one they had listed for $489 didn't have the AS electronics...this is merely a stock photo.

Quite a few Exotica basses claim the same thing, I've noticed.

I looked HARD at buying one of two of those Deans for sale this weekend. But one was exotica quilted ash dark blue, and the other was quilted ash natural ... not my cup of tea. I would have let go of $$$ INSTANTLY had I been offered that Faded Denim though. That is "the one" I would be willing to buy. And will gladly purchase it from you, if you ever decide to part with it.
Moving on from Dean ... in my purchasing of ACBs that are "different" if you will ... I purchased this one.

LOL ... Looking at my Signature, it is really relevant now! I have bought 5 basses this weekend, and am buying several more, when I find whatever new offering comes my way. It is funny, but I am searching and finding about ACBs I have never heard of, and buying the ones I want. I may grab a Kramer Farrington. Or maybe a Rudy Sarzo Sig. I'm buying ACBs though ! Living up to my Sig, lol.

I saw that somewhere recently and was 'watching' it. The fretted version is hard to come by. Nice!

Ah hah ! Just saw this. I have been busy buying acoustic basses. So here is my question ... are the above links where I should go to ask questions about Acoustic bass in general? I know it is the place to show off your ACBs ... but is there an official ACB thread, where all things acoustic bass is discussed? Thank you

I guess I should have stated this before anything else ... I just bought a $1700 Warwick Alien. I probably don't see myself spending more than that on an acoustic bass. I'm acquiring quite a nice little collection so far. But unless more things come to my knowledge, more than what I have found in tons of hours of searching, I am about wrapping up buying I guess. Looking at a Rudy Sarzo, and a Fender 450CE ... but I have questions about both, so I have not bought these yet. I like the different look. Something that differs from just plain spruce top and mahogany back and sides. My Alvarez has that covered as well as that configuration gets IMO.

All of my basses should arrive mid this week, except the backordered Alien, and I plan on taking out my calibration microphone and getting extremely precise SPL measurement differences of their own respective volumes of each string. I'm betting on the Ortega, but time will tell.

Yes...at least for like minded fans of ABGs

Also, get in the habit of using 'reply' or 'quote' if you're looking for quicker responses. :)
Also, I haven't seen anyone on TB refer to an ABG as an ACB, just sayin' I knew what you meant though

What type of set up are you going to use for your SPL measurements.
I've been thinking about doing something similar but wanted to stay consistent with what anyone else might be doing.
