I gave up the idea of hooking up the cab to my little Marshal and bought a GK MB 200 for 200 bucks on EBAY.They will be here wed. I see the amp is 3lbs but my package is 74 lbs.Interesting,I wonder if a warehouseman put a case of MB200 on the fedex truck.Or they are sending the wrong product.Let you all know.Love my speaker running it at low levels now with my Hartke 1000.

update got the MB 200 and the little box kicks ...... So happy I made one. The company that sold me the amp saw the weight they were charged and they are looking into billing. Seems somebody is skimming........well if you are on the fence about building one of these speakers I tell ya go for it best 100 bucks spent on a cab.

OMFG! The Basslite S2010 has practically DOUBLED in price - $139.99.

Congrats to those of you who jumped on this early and didn't procrastinate like I did, thinking it would be a nice summer project to tinker with.
Oh well...

Yep....bummer.

A few pages back theres a place listed that has the speaker for $120, but then you're adding shipping and hassle (I'm assuming).

Still a worthy project, but a little less "cool cheap DIY cab" appeal.

EDIT: I wonder how this speaker would work - [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] - obviously more weight, but if the experts would like to chime in about its' feasibility for this project, that would be great. Thanks.

I'm think of something like this instead:

I'll put a small sealed box behind the 6-1/2.
With a 4" dia by 8" long port the cabinet will be tuned to about 45hz

It'll come in just under 50 lbs, right about $200.00.

I have one basslite and one Tone Tubby. The basslite sounds like a transistor radio. I am amazed at the difference.the Tubby will take anything you throw at it.just check it out guys the TT is so fat, warm, punchy, and freaken loud , I am pushing it with the GK MB 200. With two boxes I can now play a bar gig. Blows my Carvin 2 x10 out the water.and my Hartke 4x10 is for sale cheap.CL special some stoner kid will want it for the size.I drank the freaked cool aid fo sho.

I can't speak for it in the cab in this thread, but I've got the four ohm version in a 1x10 cab. You definitely want something to pick up the 500+Hz range. It's a great sounding speaker but it wants a larger cab (I'm at about 1.6 ft^3) with a low tuning (I'm at 31 Hz).

I like the cab a lot, but I'm building these because I want something smaller and lighter. I can carry two of these as easily as I can carry my single BP102 cab. Lot's more firepower, so it's more versatile, at the expense of absolute low end.

KO

I might be tempted to try one of these:

Thanks Duke!!

Here is a picture of my micro/mini me. I built it just like you described. Like everybody else I find that it is "surprisingly loud". I will build another one shortly. Great fun and all of my "big" stuff is in the garage waiting for the next gig. Makes my wife really happy.(LOL...)
