Don is shipping Monday a pair of LDS/hybrid of the Aggy SL & DB 112 near the 25 pound weight of the SLs thats what i mean by light weight!
Arrived - 28 pounds exactly what I want...
Compared it with an Aguilar GS112 with a 2008 Fender American Standard Jazz 5 string with Nordstrand NJ5S Noiseless pickups through a TH500, tone knobs at noon, Drive at 8 o'clock, Gain and Master at 10 o'clock.
The LDS 112T is responsive, full, warm, punchy & tight. Not clanky or brittle with the tweeter on. The extended lows are not overbearing and the mids allow the voice and fundamental note to speak. The bridge pickup has the classic 'burpy' growl and and the neck pickup gets very close to the classic P tone.
The GS112 sounded nice, typical "scoop" and a little shy in the extended lows.
Don and I agreed to finish one and let me check it out, just in case he needed to go back to the drawing board again.
Don Oatman is a classy gentle man of his word. The 1010/6 he first built for me sounds and looks great! 45 pounds with my neck n back issues wasn't light enough for my needs. He insisted on my satisfaction. I'm very please with the result!
Pictures to follow.
