I do wedge my 15/6 from time to time. It works well.

Again, while I appreciate your advice, I have the 15/6 so a 12/6 would be a bit redundant. I know its a bit bigger, but not that big of a deal. On tiny stages while I could probably get away with a 15/6, I do prefer a 112 stack IME. :)

I discovered the LDS 15/6 does very nice double duty as a PA sub-woofer. I use a Mackie 808S powered mixer, which does not have a sub-woofer out jack. Being interested in adding more woof to the PA, I ran a line from my mixer's Effects Send into my bass rack's QSC PLX3602 amp, put it in stereo mode, flipped the new channel's dip switch to "sub" and the other switch to Full, and attached my 15/6 cab. Voila: incredible sub-woofer tone from the PA system! Don't need the mid-range driver for sub-woofer duty but it's a great way to get extra use out of the cab. The price was right too: free!

I am actually having Don build me a 15 + 10 cab with a built in rack space for my 400+. I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it in a month or 2. But the 400+ can be devastating in terms of power, how are you not getting enough volume? Afraid of melting the drivers?

Naw, I ain't skeerd of melting drivers. It just distorts before it gets loud enough with the 15/6. 300 watts is not doing it with that cab. Now with a bridged Crown K2 on it, it is freakin awesome. I just sent Don a deposit on an 810 cab loaded with Faital drivers. That ought to be the bomb with the 400+.

Depends on hardware, grill type, covering type (that looks like the new 'in house' roll-on finish that doesn't add much weight versus the truck bed stuff), and three way versus two way.... 70 to 80 pound range depending. That one should probably come in around 75 by the looks of it.

And yes, any double LF driver cab will be 4ohms, since those speakers only come in 8ohm version.

Honestly, my 45lb 15/6 is on the high end of what I want to carry these days. Might put it on the block for a 12/6/1 at some point, or another Jack if mine turns out OK.

It's nuts how fast we get used to the idea of new stuff, e.g. gigging extensively with a 35lb cab was ridiculous just a few years ago :>

I may yet try a XX/6/1.
The 8 ohm 15/6 I had just wasn't gonna get it without the horn; and it really seemed less than optimal without a lot of power feeding it.

I'm uncertain whether a single 4 ohm 12/6/1 would deliver enough spl for my needs, and I don't want two.

If you want one cab and it must be 4 ohms, you might want to see if there's a 10" driver you could pair up - something like a 2x10/6/1 with a 6nd410 and a quality horn.

Here's hoping a kappalite 10 comes out :) Something like a pair of Beyma 10MW/ND's might work, but I'm not sure. The Fs on them seems a little high though.

The 1212/6 is cool looking but it really is huge - too big and heavy for me anyway.

There is no 12/6/1 option that I know of in 4ohms.

If you are happy with the 410UL, be happy with the 410UL! I have no gas for one of these either, since my 410UL and AE410 more than cover all my needs (although that 2 x 15/2 x 6 is really something to behold... you'd need two 410UL's to keep up with that).

But, these are a different sound... deeper, smoother, fatter... too smooth for my tone goals personally, but killer for what they are. Just depends what you want, and power is cheap these days. Nice boxes.

I do have that coax 15 coming, but more for 'just something to try' than really any need or GAS.

However, if, down the road, I hear a 15/6/1 with a crossover and tweeter I dig, I'd probably get one 'just because'! Cool boxes for sure!
