I love it on your bass!

I personally think cabs should be black. As nutty as I get is the vintage Fender grill cloth...

It'd be great as part of the Banana Splits Band though, for those old enough to remember such a thing;)

Surf green tolex? Awesome. Awesome to the max. Do it.

Here's hoping don is getting caught up this week. He's promised to start my cab this week.

He's really working through everything. No lunches, no hangs until he gets caught up. He's a bit grumpy when he gets behind:) I'm leaving him alone for another couple of weeks:D

Yeah, I think it will be a cool looking and sounding little box. Of course, I'm pretty far back in the line, but my guess is he will get to mine within a couple of months.

I'm sure my weekly emails aren't helping his mood...........

My experience has been with Don that he just answers emails for an hour or so in the morning, so I don't imagine it gets him down :)

+1 He is VERY happy to hear from his customers, and like most small business owners, appreciates the business a lot. We were talking this morning about this... until he hung up on me to get back to work:D

Hadn't talked to Don in a while as he's really working to get everyone's cabs out and catch up. I just talked with him and he's getting caught up!

Good news, bad news....

My big idea for that Beyma coax 15 cab is shot to heck. Don said the box would be quite large to make that driver worth paying for. That's the bad news. The good news is, that has finally pushed me to have a small 3015 cab like Ryan's built. I just LOVE the 'old school with grind' tone of his cab (I have the two way with tweeter thing well covered already). I will have it tuned just a touch higher than Ryan did, per an earlier discussion.

And... at the moment... vintage hardware, surf green tolex and a black grill cloth to match up with my A-C Nitro surf green LG 60's style J Bass:eek::D

Wow, sounds great. I'm just about to order a Barefaced Compact myself.

I'm going back to the sound i love and am going to have Don build me a 215/tweet cab loaded with JBL K140's. trying to decide on a tweeter. Don is recommending a Selenium. I have one in a 112 cab he built for me last year, but I find it a bit harsh sounding. I'm wondering how those super bullet tweeters that Jorg uses in his BMF 215 sound ? Anyone have any experience with them, or have a suggestion for me ?

That's a very similar cab, from what Alex told me a while back. GREAT little box IMO!

Be sure to get a horn in there man. Switchable is great (on an on/off switch for distortion perhaps) but definitely get one :)

For those considering horns, the fEarful thread has a few good quality horn recommendations. The JBL waveguide with a BMS driver got good reviews I think, and the 18 sound XD125 is an option too.

Good lord dude, K140s weigh a ton. Ask Don for Neo replacement recommendations. :) I'd go with 3015s myself given how insanely flat they are and how well they take eq, but some "oldschoolers" are down on the 3015.

I've been pushing Don to find a more organic tweeter. I just don't dig that metalic sizzle of the selenium he uses... just too much for me personally. It sounds good if you dig a very modern, sizzly top end, but even turned down, I just hear too much 'metal' or something. It reminds me a bit of the tweeter and crossover sound of the older Bergantino HT cabs... very, very hi fi. That's not a bad thing at all, but there are other ways to extend the top end IMO and IME.

I too like the tweeter Jorg uses. Don loves the tweeter he typically uses because it is very high power and won't blow up even when abused. I'm going to keep working on him to find something between the 'mid driver' type tone and the full out selenium sizzle:D I'll let you know, and please do the same if you find something that will fit the bill.

Wow, 125 bucks :) No sir. Anyone got firsthand experience with the XD125? I know it was originally a fEarful recommendation. On paper it looks very very nice. Crossed over at 18db/oct @ ~2500hz and padded back ~8db it should have an insane power handling.

Not as much as the E140's ! :D Anyway, been there done that with the 3015. Not for me, in fact, I pretty much don't like any other 15 . JBL's sound so much more crisp and sparkly to me, and I'm hoping the lightweight ply and the lighter K140's will make the cab more manageable then my old MDF 215 cab loaded with E140's.

Don said he could get those tweeters Jorg uses, I was hoping someone had some experience with them. I too would like something not as razor sharp as those Seleniums. Jorg has two different models he uses, one is more " sharp " than the other, but both handle 200 watts, I believe.
