^ Glad to see things worked out and that Don will make everything good at his cost. If it were me, I would definitely take him up on the offer of a new cab, but, that's just me. Kinda scratched my head over this one because Don does excellent work. He builds 'em one at a time by himself, but I guess this one slipped through the cracks somehow.

Was waiting for breakin and shakeout when I had issues, but a new preamp tube seems to have solved it.
Gonna crank this at rehearsal tonight, as breakin has been in progress. I wanted a no lift option and have transported this effortlessly after I added skid rails per the thread on talkbass.

Just received my LDS 12.6.1 yesterday. Heavily inspired by other cabs in the thread, I think the wine tolex and cane grill cloth make a great looking cab!

Don's workmanship was top notch with this cab, and I'm really loving the sounds I get with the 6.5 mid and eminence tweeter.

I really love that light grillcloth with the wine tolex.
My 15/6/1 came with black grillcloth - I may have him make me a light one. That is just smokin' hot.
And I know it sounds great, too!

Very vice compadre'. Mine may have been the first of the wine taurus with tan cane cloth cabs, at least it seemed so when I requested it from Don. Anyway, nice cab .... enjoy!

Man, those wine/tolex cabs are hot.
So question for all you LDS folk - as I am probably going to be amongst you sooner than later...
I have been in two or three places when it comes to my custom cab(s)... (I use a GK MB2-500 for reference -- 500W@4ohms, 350W@8ohms)

#1: 2 cabs - 12"/6"/tweeter cab and a 12" ext cab.

#2: 1 cab - 2x12"/tweeter

#3: 1 cab - 2x10/6"/tweeter

My concern is that I will only have one rig (a DI box is my backup), it will be used indoors for small/medium gigs and in the summers for a handful of outdoor gigs (W/PA support of course) -- so I'd like it to be light and portable, but I also want to make sure the sound carries. Band situation - covers, hard rock, 2 guitars, drums, myself and vocals of course...

I am leaning more and more towards #2 - does this seem like it will cover what I need? Suggestions? My priority list in order of importance...
1. sound quality/tone/volume
2. weight
3. portability

FWIW, I decided to go with 2 12/6/1 cabs, (basically your #1 option). I think there are a lot of times where 1 12" cab is enough, so theres that much less to carry around if it's a small gig.

For medium size rigs, I'd have to say the 2 x 112 setup is pretty popular around TB.

I would go with two 12/6/1's mirrored baffle style. Then you can have practice cab at home and studio, two separate small gigging cabs, etc.

The cost difference is about 100 dollars or so with LDS, so I see no reason to get a sub.

Still, I'd shell out the extra 100-150 bucks for making the backup cab fully functional instead of a dependent box.

If you ever want to sell it, selling a 12/sub by itself you'll take a huge hit. The full cab you can probably get almost what you paid for it.
