So just to inform anyone thinking of ordering a large cab i.e.
1515/66, Don has trouble finding a reliable shipping method and mine has finally shipped to my second closest airport hub 2 hours away. If I had a do over I would have ordered 2 15/6 cabs instead of the 1515/66. UPS Fedex etc will deliver 15/6 boxes to your door. I am gonna drive 1.5 to 2 hours each way for a 1515/66 and anticipate a higher probability of damage per Don. FYI only

That is a drag. Usually, trucking companies will shrink wrap, or band large boxes like that to a pallet, so a forklift can pick it up at various bulk points. UPS and Fedex home delivery is not the best way to get large, heavy boxes delivered. I remember getting my Roland DB 700 combo,( weighed around 70 lbs ) delivered by UPS. They left it at the end of my driveway, on its side. Luckily, it was'nt damaged, but, that's what you take a chance on with a heavy load and one guy with a very busy delivery schedule.

Unfortunately, Don does use a shipping company that is SUPPOSED to do just that... shrink wrap the large cab to the pallet. From what I understand, he has used that company with no problem for quite a few years, but just recently had a 'higher than chance' damage rate to his larger cabs. Since it is almost impossible to collect on an insurance claim from one of these types of companies, and since Don is a very small company working on some pretty small margins, he is probably just going to not make cabs large enough to require shipping services (and will only make these monster cabs for those who want to come and pick them up). At least, that was his thinking when we had lunch a while back... not sure where he will end up on this.

It's going to be the same model that Ken video'd, the red one ( mine wil be in black ). But I've asked Don to put the mid, instead of the tweeter over the woofer, as suggested by Greenboy. Otherwise, pretty identical.

I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble the other board members are having with the shipping company. I'm definitely glad I got my cab before all this stuff started happening. speaking of, though, I've recently made a video of a drummer friend and I improvising in his garage. in case you were curious of what my tweed 4x10+6.5"/1x18 cab sounded like, here ya go:

Per Don @ LDS, my 2x12 is in the mail. Ordered at the end of July.

Not going to tell anybody how to feel about the extended wait period, but I'm very happy it's finally on the way. And for the price, can I complain? No.

hm. ok, I'll split the video into two parts and upload it to youtube later. Tim C., thanks. it's a little different in real life due to the bottom that is there. when I stood where I did, my clothes were vibrating from the air being moved. it's an awesome feeling. lol. Entwistle is a big indirect and direct influence of mine, though, and I've noticed a bit too much of an "Entwistle" sound I've been getting. he's got an amazing sound, for sure, but it's his sound, and I'm trying to leave that for him. but, I like a nice round tone full of mids with a nice treble bite on top all floating on top of some subsonic lows coming from the 18. so, what I need out of my tone plus my technique just happened to sound similar to Entwistle. no real way around it, though. in person, though...the low end is just brutal. lol. it hits you in the chest like a kick drum.

Went against my better judgement and did not bring my LDS 2 x 10's & LH1000 to an audition tonite.

Had to suffer with 'their rig': An Eden WT400 & an Eden 4 x 10 some such. I was hittin' the notes & groovin' but the tone was strugglin' to keep up. As a band, they weren't even that loud.

The WT was cryin' Uncle by the end of the 1st song, and I had to adjust. Throwin' the LH in the car would've given me headroom at least.

Any other play dates & I'll suffer to haul the LH & my 2 x 10(s). The tone I practiced all the songs with was no where to be found in that Eden rig. The singer was good.

When my tone is there, I ain't all that picky.

So thanks to the TB member who sent me a pm suggesting "Forward Air", as a positive experience. I forwarded that to Don and the cab is here! 3 hr round trip drive but anyone near SF could ask Don for a big cab transported this way. It was metal band strapped to a pallet like a lumber delivery, and Don's carton was well cushioned to handle the metal strap. No chance to play it yet. Thanks to the TB member but I cleaned my inbox and don't have your name for proper kudos!
