Just ordered my second LDS cab a few minutes ago. Sealed 410 with the top 2 slanted back,loaded with the 32 ohm Eminence Legend 810's and a mid driver. Should be a great all around cab.

I just don't understand why anyone would add a mid driver to a 4x10 
Why not just vertically align the 4x10, slant the top one back, and stop wasting time with a mid driver?
The reason to use 10" woofers is the midrange tone and the excellent dispersion when arrayed vertically.

It's going to be crossed over at around 4.5 to 5k if I remember correctly.So I guess it's not actually a mid driver. More of using a cone driver instead of a tweeter. I want to keep a conventional 410 configuration (2x2) for the sake of keeping the cab height down.
A cone at 4.5-5khz might as well be a paperweight unless it's 3" or smaller. You'll only hear it when your head is right in line with it.

You'd be better off with a couple soft dome tweeters or a line of Faital 3FE20s or similar. Maybe even a nice horn padded back substantially. Or even nothing at all, really.

Well,you need to talk to Don if you think I'm wasting my money. That was his recommendation. He did my first cab perfectly,so I trust his judgment.
Just ordered another cab from Don! This will be a 1x15 ported cab to stack with my LDS 4x8. The 4x8 works very well as a standalone cab, however i really liked the result when I stacked it on a 1x15 cab at a show about a month ago. I spent a fair amount of time reviewing driver specs, and if I had a million dollars would surely try the Eminence 3015LF all the fEARful fans are so happy about. But a $300 for the driver alone, I have opted for Don's recommendation to use the DELTA-15LF. Anyone have one of these?

Don doesn't charge 300 for the driver. He charges wholesale for woofers typically or very close.
Delta 15LF is a fine sounding driver. Just weighs a ton. Won't keep up with four high output eights either. Depends on the eights though.
I'd suggest talking to Don about how much a 3015LF with a fEarful Sub crossover would actually cost - probably less than you think.

It's not a problem at all. You have an issue with Dons work I guess. I've seen this setup before and it worked pretty well. But I guess you know more than the rest of us.
In the sense that I know better than to cross a driver over above frequencies where it is completely directional, yes, I do know better than Don and you and literally everyone who thinks that's a good idea.
It's your money. Feel free to waste it on franken cabs and ignore reality.
This is not me talking, this is me parroting everyone who knows a damned thing about loudspeaker design. Don't make it out to be me appealing to my authority as a cabinet designer.
Yes, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes. However, it takes a tad bit more than knowing what one likes to design a bass cabinet properly. Just like it takes more than being a great cabinet builder to design one.
Designing a bass cabinet isn't like being in an ice cream shop, standing in front of a bunch of speakers, crossovers and boxes and saying, "I'd like two scoops of that one, and a little bit of that one and put it in this box to go. And can you cover that in a nice chocolate finish please?"
Face it, few people really care anyway and would rather just go buy a tub of regular ice cream from the grocery store.
I'm sure he would, but he's a tad bit busy with a different forum and all. I kid, obviously.
Seriously, I was speaking more to cab design in general than anything in particular. Box stuffing isn't anything new.

C'mon everyone... Let the nice LDS thread go back to normal. People get different configurations for different reasons. You're not going to change anyone's mind and only instill more rancor. Each cab is a learning experience in itself.
